Is there any band whose 80's records are better than their 70's stuff?

Or who similarly had their start/heyday in the 80's that went on to put out superior work in the 90's or 00's? Can't of any for either category, except maybe Motorhead but that's debatable for obvious reasons. Thin Lizzy? No. Judas Priest? Hell no. ZZ Top? Naw. Scorpions? Nein. Deep Purple? No way. Moving on down the line, Megadeth? Anthrax? Overkill? Iron Maiden? Metallica? Winger?

I like Death's 90's stuff better than the 80's stuff.

I personally don't think so, but a lot of fans of the last two Amorphis albums would say that 2000's Amorphis triumphs over their 90's work. Also if you love high-quality pop, and aren't a prog man, you would probably consider Genesis' 80's material to be many notches above their 70's material.

I disagree with both the examples I made, but they were they only possible arguments I could even think of.

edit: I do agree with Josh, but I don't know if Death are the best example since only two of their albums were from the 80's... , but I guess it's the best we can do.

Saying no to Priest is dodgy, given that Screaming For Vengeance and British Steel are '80s records. Motorhead's '70s albums blow, so I'd say they were better in the '80s. I'd add Queen to the list too.

As for '90s better than '80s:

Alice Cooper, KISS, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Overkill, Testament, Rage, Motorhead again.

I think the question here is how many albums in the second decade are required to effectively triumph over the previous decade? Cos a bunch of people say that Rust In Peace is better than the stuff from the 80's. But when you combine that with Countdown to Extinction, which isn't an excellent record but its still very good.
