Metallica -- San Diego, CA -- December 15th, 2008

Metallica -- San Diego, Ca -- Dec 15 2008
THAT WAS JUST YOUR LIFE
END OF THE LINE
RIDE THE LIGHTNING - FUCK YEAH
MEMORY REMAINS
ONE
BROKEN, BEATEN AND SCARRED
CYANIDE
SAD BUT TRUE
ALL NIGHTMARE LONG
NO REMORSE -
SOLO
THE DAY THAT NEVER COMES
MASTER OF PUPPETS
BLACKENED
NOTHING ELSE MATTERS
ENTER SANDMAN
-------
DIE, DIE MY DARLING
HIT THE LIGHTS
SEARCH AND DESTROY

I must say this is the best concert I have seen, ever. I have seen them 7 times since '86 and this, by far, outdid any of them. The light show was bitchin and the energy from them as well as the audience was unbelievable. The whole arena was electric and chanting along to every song as well as the new ones, which is not common at all with new shit. I have seen quite a few bands - Ozzy (first live exposure to Metallica), Sabbath, Maiden in their heyday, Judas, ect., and these guys fuckin blew it out with little pyro or props. It was the energy, that was the part that was phenomenal. These guys are on fire. Maybe cus it's the beginning of the tour? I don't know but I saw them at the beginning of the Load tour and at the end, these aren't the same dudes. They were fucking tight. The last time I saw them, they were very sloppy. AND they they did a fucking 5 song acoustic set. Total turn off considering I went to see a thrash band.
ANYWAYS.....sorry for rambling.....it's late. Highlights were Ride The Lightning, Broken, Beaten and Scarred, Nightmare, No Remorse, Day That Never Comes, Master, Blackened, and of course Search and Destroy. It seemed like they did not want to stop playing as they kept playing this song. The crowd was eating it up. The song ended 2 times and they went back into it a 3rd time. It was awesome. Then after it was all over, they seem to be having a one on one with audience.

SEE this concert! Every single seat was filled floor to ceiling and nobody was getting out of their seat. This is the first band I've seen to do that - maybe I just need to get out more? They were fucking good. A very solid performance.

Yeah for someone who's seen them 7 times since the '80s you'd think he'd know the title was Seek lol. Anyway I'm just being an ass, thanks for the setlist. Sounds like a wicked show I can't wait until they finaly come here for it and I hope to see No Remorse and Hit the Lights when they do.

LOL, yeah it was late. It was bad enough I could hardly keep my eyes open to type. Battle hymns are are still echoing.
What a fucking show. Still could have did without NOM. I can see why now they chose the songs they did, they were all tried and true favs and crowd participation was unprecedented. Every song seemed to set the place on fire. It was just off the hook. I missed Sword damn it. Anyone catch them?

My conversations with Metallica

1. With Rob

Rob : Hey how's it going!
Me : Great!
Rob : Where you from?
Me : India. You should come to play there sometime. We are waiting for you for so long.
Rob : Sure thing man. Did you fly from there?
Me : No. I live in LA. But if you play there I'll fly over there for sure.
Rob : Wow cool man.
Then Rob signs his picture on my Death Magnetic CD booklet and he signs my Metallica flag. After that we pose for a picture.
Me : You should play the bass solo from Kill 'Em All on stage
Rob : Haha I've to learn it first and it would take me whole life. Enjoy the show!
Me : I will I will!!

My conversations with Metallica

3. With James

James : Hey man wassup
Me : Hey! Great pleasure!
James signs my Ride the Lightning CD booklet and Ride the Lightning flag
James : So we know what your favorite album is.
Me : Yep! ... Did you play the piano on Unforgiven 3?
James : Yea I did! But the actual story goes like this. I played on the demo, but when that song was getting finalized for the record, I was on tour. So they got another player to do that part for the album.
Me : Please come to India sometime soon. India loves Metallica!
James: Thats good to hear man. When things work out we will try our best to go there!
Me : That would be great! By the way great show in Ontario!
James: Oh yea it was. Cool! Enjoy this one too!
