The best year for metal?

I was thinking about this recently, and I'm not sure if the discussion has come up here yet, but what year do you think saw the best metal releases and was kind of a pinnacle or high point for metal in general? For me I think it's 1983; you had just a shit ton of killer albums released all across the metal spectrum, and it was a time at the cusp of the beginning of the thrash explosion and of metal's rising popularity. A time of the perfect balance between recognition and creativity that hasn't been rivaled since. These are all the badass albums I could think of which came out that year:

Iron Maiden- Piece Of Mind
Dio- Holy Diver
Krokus- Headhunter
Metallica- Kill 'Em All
Slayer- Show No Mercy
Y&T- Mean Streak
Accept- Balls To The Wall
Exciter- Heavy Metal Maniac
Mercyful Fate- Melissa
Raven- All For One
Tokyo Blade- Tokyo Blade
Satan- Court In The Act
Venom- At War With Satan
Saxon- The Power and the Glory
Manilla Road- Crystal Logic
Witchfinder General- Friends of Hell
Anvil- Forged In Fire
Thin Lizzy- Thunder and Lightning

Can you guys think of a better year for metal?

And I just remembered two more that came out in '83, Tank's "This Means War" and Savatage's "Sirens"

'86 maybe, but I have a hard time coming up with such a lineup of ripper albums for '88.

I strongly argue '86. I think the reasons should be relatively obvious for any metal fan.

Also, I think '88 is a strong contender for the title, but unfortunately cant come close to '86.
