ACT Math help

I need help. Studying for the ACT right now, and I dont know how to do one of kind of the problems. If someone could help that would be fantastic.

Example: Bob can make 20 drinks in 4 minutes. Jan can make 20 drinks in 6 minutes. Jesus can make 20 drinks in 17 minutes. If they work together, how long will it take them to make 20 drinks?

Someone want to break that down for me?

Also:

Example: Bob can make 10 drinks in 4 minutes. Jan can make 15 drinks in 6 minutes. Jesus can make 6 drinks in 17 minutes. If they work together, how long will it take them to make 20 drinks?

I WOULD GREATLY, GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!!

Just add the ratios.

Example: Bob can make 20 drinks in 4 minutes. Jan can make 20 drinks in 6 minutes. Jesus can make 20 drinks in 17 minutes. If they work together, how long will it take them to make 20 drinks?

Someone want to break that down for me?

So the rates are 20/4, 20/6, and 20/17. Add them together (I wont do the actual math here, they let you take a calculator to the ACT if I remember correctly), and you have the rate for all three of them making drinks at once (something like 9.5 drinks per minute). Then obviously it's pretty easy to find out the time using simple rate*time formula. Other problem is the same exact thing.

Thank you so very much! I have been in AP Statistics the past year, and have forgotten most of my mathematics since Honors Algebra 2 and Honors Geometry 1 and 2 years ago, respectively. I think Math is what hurt my score last time. I got a 29. Lets see how it goes this time. If I dont do better than a 31, then I am going to trying something other than 'night-before' cramming.
