The Mars Volta -- Paris, France -- March 5th, 2008

I debated about posting this here, but I feel like many "metal" fans are open-minded about The Mars Volta, partly because of At The Drive-In and partly because they are so talented. Here's the setlist for a mammoth 3 hour show of theirs I saw last week:

The Mars Volta
Olympia Hall
Paris, FR

Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of)
Viscera Eyes
Wax Simulacra
Cygnus...Vismund Cyngnus
Drunkship of Lanterns
Asilos Magdalena (acoustic)
Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore (Vade Mecum) (acoustic)
Day of the Baphomets

Glad to see their best song there (Cygnus), but still a little too heavily weighted to the Bedlam stuff. However, I'm sure Wax Simulacra ruled hard.
Mortals are mortar and life is the fuse.

Holy shit. That's a fantastic setlist. They were in Ann Arbor last month and I couldn't go.
So well informed I don't know where the truth begins.
