Dark Funeral -- Lawrence, KS -- October 21st, 2007

(This is taken from http://www.last.fm/user/mankvill/jou.../10/22/555437/)

This was the first concert I've gone to alone. But by far, this is the best concert. I met 2 people in line and we chatted. They were cool. :O If you see this journal entry, girl from Joplin, say hello!

Anyways, Unmerciful was on first. I had seen these guys open up for Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus and Necrophagist last year, and they did not disappoint. Their closing song was Katatonia by Suffocation. Overall, pretty enjoyable.

Daath was up next, and I was excited since I had missed them at Ozzfest. And they were the beginning of a trio of excellent music. Daath played mostly stuff from The Hinderers, which was just fine by me. The guitar players in that band really have some talent, and there were some great solos. They finished with my favorite song of theirs, Cosmic Forge. Great band.

1. The Hinderers
2. From The Blind
3. Festival Mass Soulform
4. Sightless
5. Blessed Through Misery
6. Ovum
7. Subterfuge
8. Cosmic Forge

I had never listened to Naglfar before, but holy shit, I will start now. The lead singer is definitely intimidating, and they played fantastic, no bullshit black metal. An incomplete setlist is: As the Twilight Gave Birth to the Night (which was awesome), The Brimstone Gate, A Swarm of Plagues, and Odium Generis Humani. I'm probably missing a lot, so if you were there, feel free to fill in. But last things last, Naglfar was fucking amazing. I will totally check them out further.

Setlist (out of order):
1. I Am Vengeance
2. Spoken Words of Venom
3. Unleash Hell
4. Into the Black
5. The Darkest Road and Way of the Rope
6. As the Twilight Gave Birth to the Night
7. The Brimstone Gate
8. A Swarm of Plagues
9. Odium Generis Humani

The band I had come to see was Dark Funeral. Goddamn, Dark Funeral is great. I've never screamed along with so many songs in my life. They are the epitome of Black Fucking Metal. Every song of theirs was fantastic. And here's a setlist:

1. King Antichrist
2. Diabolis Interium
3. Enriched by Evil
4. The Arrival of Satan's Empire
5. Goddess of Sodomy
6. 666 Voices Inside
7. Vobiscum Satanas
8. Attera Totus Sanctus
9. The Secrets of the Black Arts
10. Open the Gates
11. Godhate
12. An Apprentice of Satan
1. Atrum Regina
2. Hail Murder
Final Ritual

This was the best concert I've ever been to.

Man, sounds awesome... I've loved Naglfar for a while now, and I would flip if I could see As the Twilight Gave Birth to the Night live... Really bummed I can't make it to that one.
