The finest recorded moments in metal
I'm listening to Operation: Mindcrime, as you do.
That bit at the start of Revolution Calling where the lead first kicks in between the intro and Geoff's first line. Man that bit's amazing. So I'm thinking, what are the best recorded moments in metal? A couple of my other personal favourites is the one-two combination of Call of Ktulu and Master of Puppets on S&M and the three-guitar soloing frenzy that occupies the final two-and-a-half minutes of Wasted White Boys by W.A.S.P. Anyone else?

1) Adrian's solo in "Hallowed be Thy Name"
2) The intro sequence of Van Halen's "I'm The One" 3) The thrash break in Slayer's "Angel of Death" 4) The last section in the live version of Priest's "Genocide" where Halford is screaming "ON THE ROCKS!" 5) Metallica's "Fight Fire With Fire." The whole damn thing.

Kirks solo in Ride The Lightning.
When the bass riff of the begining of Peace Sells becomes the guitar bit. Black Sabbath's whole Symptom Of The Universe song,in my opinion the first thrash song. Daves solo in Phantom Of The Opera Last edited by metal_man1019; 10-08-2007 at 04:58 AM. |

The rain in Black Sabbath... the first note of Black Sabbath.. the riff of Black Sabbath...
What is this that stands before me? Figure in black which points at me Turn around quick, and start to run Find out I'm the chosen one Oh no Big black shape with eyes of fire Telling people their desire Satan's sitting there, he's smiling Watches those flames get higher and higher Oh no, no, please God help me

The last minute of Hallowed Be Thy Name -- particularly the guitar harmony bit.

Most of the aforementioned, but my personal favorite has to be the guitar that leads into the "Triumphant, Champion of Ithaca" part of the Odyssey. Gets me every time, and was the most energetic thing I've ever seen live.

The 45 seconds or so of As I Am by Dream Theater, where it slowly builds to that killer main riff. Awesome.
