Moldy Crud: Other than a few good select songs, I really don't care for them!

I never really loved them, but there was a time in the 80s when I would wait for their video of "Home Sweet Home" to come on the daily top 10 countdown on MTV, and either I or my little brother had Theater of Pain on cassette. I thought Shout at the Devil was pretty good (back when I also thought it was cool to hang those little mirrors on your wall that you win at the fair throwing darts at balloons). But the day I first heard it was also the day I first heard Number of the Beast, and that pretty much put my life on a different (and largely Crue-free) track.
Eventually I grew to pretty much detest them -- somewhere between Theater of Pain and Girls Girls Girls. But then once at a party in a basement, in the grip of complete drunkenness, I danced and headbanged like a silly idiot to Motley Crue with a high school friend. So I guess they have a certain appeal in the right circumstances. Mostly, I prefer to avoid them.

Not a big fan of Crue, or 80s metal in general, but Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, and Twisted Sister were some highlights...along with..
THE YELLOW AND BLACK ATTACK ![]() LOLGAYCHRISTIANS Now those guys were bad reps for the Christian faith. |

![]() Stryper used to be my Mom's favorite band. So I'd buy her a new Stryper cassette every Christmas/birthday for her present -- that way at least I could feel like I was giving her some "metal". Then when I was old enough to borrow her minivan, me and my punk rock friends would drive around town banging our heads like crazy to Stryper's version of "Battle Hymn of the Republic." ![]() It's amazing we didn't get into an accident.

The 1994 album with John Carabi on vocals is by far the best thing they ever did.
