On the bright side it could be replaced with another metal-friendly concert venue, with better security and facilities.

The Pound's security is not bad, not great but adequate.

In fact, it was typically better than what I experienced last night in Irinve -- not an frisk.

Ah, well, I haven't been there so I shouldn't really judge. It still blows that you're losing it

You've gotta be kidding me Too much security is better than not enough no matter the circumstances. That's ridiculous.

Pound SF closing, INSIPID PRODUCTIONS remains!!!

Below is a post from Erik, the head of security for Insipid Productions. What he posts is so true and what I have been trying to explain to a LOT of people over the lat few days. Insipid books a LOT of shows, NOT just at the Pound. Granted yes, the Pound was the central venue they used, but it does NOT mean metal shows in the Bay Area are over, not by a long shot! PLEASE repost this whole message so the metal fans and bands will understand this. I know I have been asking you all to repost already three bulletins for me about this whole situation, but I am sure you can understand why. I'm just trying to keep everyone out there informed, ESPECIALLY so that no bullshit rumors get spread around. As I said before, I am VERY grateful for everyone reposting everything! This is a major, major, major part of the San Francisco Bay Area metal scene and affects a lot of people, otherwise I wouldn't bug you guys about it. So, if you can, repost this entire message so we can get the word out. Thank you SO MUCH!

"OK OK OK!! Listen Up...!! I KNOW A Lot of you are bummed about the Pound being shut down. Yes...It Sucks!! But LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY....

MOST Of YOU are so Hurt by this because you've grown up In and Around the Pound and what we've been doing there the last few years. BUT....!!! An Insipid Production (or Insipid Productions) Will Remain Intact.

"What Does THAT Mean Exactly...?"

Well...It means THIS. An Insipid Production was started in May 2000. The Pound didn't come around until February 2001. That was almost a year that We were bringing you the Metal. We were bringing you the Hardcore. We were bringing you the bands that No One Else had the balls to book. Because they were all SCARED. Now, EVERYONE is booking Metal and Hardcore bands because We (INSIPID) made it cool. And they all think that they can make a profit off of underground music.

Unfortunately For Them, They lack Our Style and Dedication to what we've built over the last six years. Often times, those other guys shows with the same bands that we book, draw nothing. And they wonder what went wrong. Why did Insipid do so well, and we drew nothing. Simple, we KNOW how to Treat Bands and We KNOW How to Treat YOU, Our Customers. We KNOW when a band is doing well....and when they are not doing so well... Partially, Because we too are fans. And Partially, because we treat YOU (the customers/fans) with the respect you deserve. And you help us figure out whose doing well, and whose not...and what Really Is Fair, so that everybody wins. Everybody has a Great Time YOU....The Bands....and even Our Staff.

What I'm trying to say is this. With The Pound closing A Lot of People are gonna try to snatch up our shows. DON'T BE FOOLED By The Posers. Claiming that they are just trying to help out and give our bands a cool place to play. THEY are just Trying to capitalize on Our work and Your Devotion. Check the Insipid Website http://www.insipidproductions.com.

WE ARE STILL IN BUSINESS!! FOR US, AND FOR YOU!!

INSIPID WAS A PIRATE OPERATION BEFORE THERE WAS A POUND SF. MEANING THAT, BEFORE THERE WAS A POUND SF, WE WOULD RENT SLIM'S, WE WOULD RENT THE COCODRIE... FOR CHRISSAKE WE RENTED (AND DEVELOPED) IMUSICAST. WE ARE THE ONE'S THAT SET UP IMUSICAST FOR LIVE SHOWS. THEY TOOK THE CREDIT FOR IT. BUT PEOPLE THAT REMEMBER KNOW THAT BEFORE INSIPID TOOK: IN FLAMES, NEVERMORE and SHADOW'S FALL TO IMUSICAST. IMUSICAST HAD NEVER DONE A LIVE SHOW BEFORE.

THE POUND GAVE US A HOME. AND WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR THAT. BUT NOW, IT'S TIME TO MOVE ON. SO WE AT INSIPID PRODUCTIONS RETURN TO WHERE WE BEGAN. "A PIRATE OPERATION WITHOUT A HOME. BUT WITH THE BEST FANS ANYONE CAN ASK FOR"....CHECK THE WEBSITE....!! MORE THAN LIKELY, WE'LL BE TAKING OVER A CLUB IN OR NEAR YOUR TOWN VERY SOON. IT'S FAR FROM OVER BOYS AND GIRLS. WE'RE JUST GETTING STARTED...again

----------------- Bulletin Message -----------------
From: Squeak - Photo Mistress

Soooooooooooooooo, last night was the final metal show at the Pound SF. ..Twas a great show (Soilwork, Darkest Hour, Mnemic and Threat Signal) and a decent turnout, but it was indeed sad. You kind of get used to going to the same place, seeing the same people working and in the crowd, and you get to thinking it..s almost like a huge family in a way. I..ve been going there ever since it opened 5+ years ago and I have gone to I..m guessing over 700 shows there (no joke). Hell it..s probably more than that, if it..s over a five year period! One of these days I will do the math. ..

Cip (from Insipid Productions, the ones that put on 98% of the big metal shows in the area and all the ones at the Pound basically) did come up on stage with the Insipid crew and thank everyone for the huge amount of support that everyone has always given. He wanted to make SURE that everyone knows that just because the Pound is going away doesn..t mean that the shows will. Insipid will still keep the shows going, even if it means booking the gigs at 6 different places to do it. He is looking into buying a club of his own so he can have all the metal gigs there (by the way, he was already half owner of the Pound, along with Tony). Soooooooo, I hope that happens, and very soon!!! Cip is an awesome guy and will do anything within his power to keep the scene going. I..m really sad that the Pound is going away and the Insipid crew has had to go through so much to keep everything going .. I guess what doesn..t kill you really does makes you stronger.

As far as the upcoming shows that were scheduled for the Pound goes, this is the news I have as of right now:

The Fear Factory, Suffocation, Hypocrisy, Decapitated gig scheduled for Friday, October 27th at 8:30pm, and the Moonspell, Katatonia, Daylight Dies gig scheduled for Saturday, November 4th at 8:30pm, have been moved to Oakland Metro at 201 Broadway in Oakland. The show date and time will remain the same.

Directions are available by clicking here: Oakland Metro Directions (http://www.oaklandmetro.org/directions.html)

Your tickets are still valid for admission at the new location and can be picked up at the will-call area, upon your arrival, with the presentation of a valid photo ID.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND .. the Metro is a SMALLER venue, yes, smaller than the Pound. The parking on the immediate area street is all PERMIT REQUIRED, so please be sure to double check that you are not in a permit area, otherwise you will get towed away. There is, however, a lot of parking in the surrounding areas (according to my friends), most of which is free. There are a few food places around as well. It is not far from Jack London Square I believe.

Cip is still awaiting word on where the other gigs are being moved to. I will keep you posted as SOON as I know ANYTHING that can be posted.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE repost this ENTIRE message (yes, including my name so people don..t think Insipid Productions posted it) if you think ANYONE on your friends list needs to know this info. There are quite a few bands out there that have played the Pound in the past that may want to know it is closing. You can repost the entire bulletin by hitting ..reply to sender.., copy the ENTIRE contents and pasting it into a new bulletin. I would really appreciate the help in getting the word out. If you do not know me nor have me on your friends list, add me at Squeak-Photo Mistress (www.myspace.com/photomistress ) or subscribe to my blog at least and you will get up to date info. Thanks so much for supporting the metal scene in the San Francisco Bay Area!!!
