Scorpions -- Costa Mesa, CA -- June 30th, 2006

Wow! The Scorpions really stung my ass last night!

The show started at 7:00 sharp with Dokken. We were going through security and missed the first song or two but caught most of their set. Here is what I saw:

Into The Fire
Dream Warriors
Kiss Of Death
Alone Again
Breaking The Chains
Tooth And Nail
It's Not Love
Burning Like A Flame
In My Dreams

Those are what I remember although possibly a bit out of order. Don's voice was in horrible shape and spoiled what would have been a decent set. He sounded raspy which he did not help out by smoking on stage as well as using the F-word a bit too much!

The SCORPIONS came on at about 8:00 and sounded fantastic. Klause's voice is in terrific shape! Here is their set:

No appearance by Michael Schenker as was rumored. I knew that was too good to be true! As I said before the sound was FANTASTIC! The SCORPIONS are truly one of the best hard rock bands in the world!

Nice long encore!

I like the set, too bad about Dokken though. Do you know if George Lynch still plays their guitar?

Don Dokken fired George a few years ago.

Good riddance. Great guitar player but he's a bigger drama queen than Sebastien Bach.

That is a fairly standard Scorpions set. Too bad they dropped We'll Burn The Sky. That song is awesome live. I would love to hear When The Smoke Is Going Down. I hope they keep that song in the set.

Dokken's voice has been bad for a few years now. I like the set list but Don can't sing those songs very well anymore. George Lynch has been gone since about 1998. And Jeff Pilson is now playing bass with Foreigner, so Mick Brown is the only other original member remaining.

You'd think if you make your living with your voice, you'd take better care of it than to be chain smoking on stage while singing.

Wow, I could not even read all of that interview. The stupidity (on all sides) gave me a headache.

By the way, Metal Sludge has to be the worst music web site that I have ever seen.
