Chimaira -- Pontiac, MI -- November 13th, 2009

Chimaira @ Clutch Cargos in Pontiac, MI

The Venom Inside
Power Trip
The Disappearing Sun
Severed w/ drum solo
Nothing Remains
Pure Hatred

I arrived during the last 2 songs of Dirge Within. They didn't do anything for me. Reminded me of Atreyu. Some sing along kind of song closed their set. Pretty sure their singer was wearing eye liner. Next up was Whitechapel. I'm not familiar with their songs, but I caught them at Mayhem fest this summer. They put on a really good show. Not to offend any fans of theirs but every song kind of sounds the same, kind of a bunch of mediocre Dying Fetus songs in a row; which isn't really a bad thing, because they sound fucking tight live, but a bit repetitive. Chimaira destroyed Clutch Cargos. The Disappearing Sun is absolutely brutal live. The drum solo in the middle of Severed was a pleasant suprise. I'm not a big Trivium fan and I've seen them 4 or 5 times, so I took off after Chimaira finished.

All in all a good night. Whitechapel is quite impressive live and Chimaira absolutely destroyed shit.

Dude why not see Trivium if you paid for the ticket already. Who cares if you've seen them 4 or 5 times. Even if you don't like their music, they are very good live. I am jealous that you saw an Andols drum solo. I want to see the Disappearing Sun live so bad.

Chimaira played the same songs in Toronto too. Was kind of dissapointed that their set was only 40 minutes long. I know they weren't headlining but earlier setlist reports had them playing 9 or 10 songs.

Got to meet them afterwards in Toronto though, which was pretty nice
