Alright, so last night was the night I've been anticipating for like 6 or 7 weeks now. My band, Necromance got to open for Overkill at Crocodile Rock in Allentown, PA. Doors opened at 7, but the 5 of us were there are quarter-of-5 because we had to load all our gear in, assemble everything, and do all the general pre-show junk. About 20 minutes after we got there, myself and our other guitarist ran into DD Verni, and we go to talk to him for a couple minutes. And then, like 5 or 10 minutes later we got to meet Blitz and talk to him for a bit. HE ACTUALLY HAD HEARD OF US! Wow, that really shocked the hell out of me. When we told him our name, he goes: "I recognize that name from somewhere, you guys ever play Jersey?" Of course we had once in the past, and we're friends with Overkill on MySpace, so yeah. That's awesome. We got to watch Overkill soundcheck, which was real cool. They seem like such a great bunch of guys... felt almost like we were hanging out with them. So yeah, the opening bands loaded our gear on-stage, and then it was time to wait. Doors opened at 7, and the first opening act Supercharger went on at 7:20. They're a local act from around here, we've played with them about 5 times now. Groove-Metal is the best I can describe their sound. They sounded pretty good. They were done around 7:45, and that was our cue to get everything good-to-go... at just about 8 PM, we took the stage:
Necromance set list: Losing Faith Bring Me Down Necromance Breaking the Chains The Trooper (Iron Maiden cover) We Will Rise All in all, it was a great show for us. The guitar solos were somewhat sloppy and it wasn't perfect, but the overall delivery and performance went off without a hitch. We got an incredible crowd response. After we got off-stage, we sold over a dozen copies of our CD right away, gave out our website adress many times, were hailed with compliments... it was grand. So 4 of us went to grab something to eat at the pizza place across the street during the next opening act's set. While we were eating, Dave Linsk from Overkill walked in. We said hey, and I wished him good luck. We then headed back to the venue, and Prong was about half-way into their set. Meh, I'll pass. Not my style of music at all. But they sounded good at what they do. And then, after only a short wait, Overkill took the stage. For the first song or two the sound wasn't too great, but it smoothed out after a while. All in all, they played really really well... Unfortunately some of the audience members were complete and utter douchebags. Overkill set list: Deny The Cross Rotten to the Core Battle Damned --song or two that i can't remember-- Thanx For Nothing -?- Necroshine Elimination Blood Money Hello From The Gutter Overkill Encore: Coma Old School Fuck You That's all. Thanks. |

Wait, you were the fucking second act? That rules, I figured Prong would be playing that date as well and you guys would open first.
