Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers -- Vancouver, British Columbia -- August 14th, 2014

Well the time has come once again, Mid August is among us and Tom Petty and the boys have churned out another tour.

Opening the dates for this North American run is Stevie Winwood.

Winwood sounded pretty awesome for his age, playing 9 songs including material from Spencer Davis, Traffic and even a Blind Faith track thrown in for good measure.

Steve Winwood's band was tight the entire night, including a spot during a Traffic song where his Sax player got to rip it up for a while. I had no idea how good Steve was on the guitar, until he started going leads on a few tracks.

Then, onto the nights headliner. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers!

Having seen Tom 2x previously, I knew what to expect performance wise but a usual Setlist wise he threw a couple curveballs into the mix.

Including a 20 something minute Acoustic set, featuring tracks from 'Southern Accents' and 'Into The Great Wide Open' not played in a coon's age I rekon.

Even though, the acoustic set was a bit of a buzz kill, it was still amazing to hear the older material live!

His solo hit's got huge roars of applause when performed as always. A few new Petty tracks thrown in, in his mind for good measure. The new material sounded pretty rockin live for sure.

After 2 hours, a few covers, a few major hits and some deep cuts. It was time to end it all.

Steve Winwood:

-I'm A Man (Spencer Davis)
-Fly
-Can't Find My Way Home (Blind Faith)
-Medicated Goo (Traffic)
-Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys (Traffic)
-Empty Pages (Traffic)
-Higher Love
-Dear Mr. Fantasy (Traffic)
-Gimme Some Lovin' (Spencer Davis)

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers:

-So You Wana Be a Rock N Roll Star (The Byrds)
-Mary Janes Last Dance
-American Dream Plan B
-Into The Great Wide Open
-Forgotten Man
-I Wont Back Down
-Free Fallin
-(Im Not Your) Stepping Stone (Paul Revere)
-Tweeter And the Monkey Man (Traveling Wilburys)
-U Get Me High
-Rebels
-Two Gunslingers
-I Got a Woman (Ray Charles)
-Learning To Fly
-Shadow People
-I Should Have Known It
-Refugee
-Running Down a Dream

-You Wreck Me
-American Girl

Yeah I would have liked that one too, I think he's played it on a date or two, so far.
