OFF! -- San Antonio, TX -- August 8th, 2014

This is probably the first show I've been able to review since I spent the whole summer busting my ass at a temp job.

Bad Antics, Gay Kiss, and The Dwarves opened the show. Bad Antics and Gay Kiss were pretty good bands, and I especially enjoyed the amount of energy Gay Kiss was putting out. I'd meant to check out The Dwarves a while ago when they played Salt Lake City for the SLC Punk 2 show, however work and a lack of a ride to a city several hundred miles away screwed me out of that, so I hadn't gotten a chance to check them out. Holy shit do I regret that. The Dwarves were absolutely insane live, playing their hearts out, passing the microphone to the fans in the audience who were familiar with their material, and encouraging circle pits to form in the audience (which I gladly participated in).

OFF! hit the stage at roughly 11:15 and the previously dead venue (for a crowd of at least 150 people, there was barely any pit action at all during the night except for three people not including myself for The Dwarves) started slamming and shoving people like a bomb had gone off in the building. Keith came right out at the beginning and said that no, he wouldn't be performing any Circle Jerks or Black Flag material, but nobody really cared; the fact that Keith could scream his lungs out the way he did years ago (and on the OFF! records) was good enough for the crowd. OFF! performed for roughly forty-five minutes, not counting the times Keith bantered onstage, stopped the show because of two fans fighting - where he even took the time to make a speech about how "the people out there [points to the street outside of the venue] expect shit like that out of us", and of course, the minute or so between the main set and the encore.

OFF! is an absolutely insane band to see live, and as I usually recommend, if you get the chance to see them, go.
