Korn -- Denver, CO -- July 29th, 2002

So we have that "this date in your concert history" thread going on, and this is a show that I haven't reviewed yet, it works out great

Ah the high school years Korn was a staple for me cause you know I was a angry brooding teen and all that stuff. Korn for me was a great band up until after the album untouchables came out, and then after that fell off the wagon (Take a look in the mirror was decent-ish but really after that....) So Korn came to town promoting Untouchables, a record I consider my favorite from them, a nice dark disturbing album to really get the blood flowing.

One problem right off the bat: anyone who has lived in the Denver area or gone to a show at the Denver Coliseum will most likely tell you this: it isn't the best place for hard rock/metal shows; the main reason being was the coliseum was mostly designed to help out the National Western Stock Show that happens every year, so the place didn't have hosting concerts in mind. More on that latter

According to setlist.fm, Puddle of Mudd was the opener for this tour and while it isn't listed for my show, I am pretty sure they opened but I hate Puddle of Mudd (liked one of those fancy singles in early high school...oh yea...SHE HATES ME BLLAHHHH)

Korn:
Here to Stay
Twist
Good God
A.D.I.D.A.S.
Trash
Dead Bodies Everywhere
Blind
Bottled Up Inside
Divine
Faget
Falling Away from Me
Make Me Bad (with snippets of Metallica's One)
Freak on a Leash
Somebody Someone
Thoughtless
Kill You
Encore:
Shoots and Ladders
Got the Life

They put on a great show and I loved the songs they played but as mentioned before the venue isn't the best for rock shows, so it was LOUD and not just metal show loud, I mean FUCKING LOUD. Basically as I recall the sound would just bounce off the celing and shoot everywhere making for an uneven mix. Also for some reason I remember it being dark, like really dark in the only light source was the tiny stage lights they had. Let me put it this way: you could put on a welders mask and shove your head up a cows ass and you would be able to see better

But all in all a great show for my young angsty self

Cool setlist! Looks like a slightly longer version of the show that they played on the Korn "Live" DVD that I own which was the Untouchables release show at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. I didn't get to see them live until last October. I would love to see Faget and Good God live someday!

yea I remember it coming out of left field and while it is an awesome song it sucked all the energy out of the building since everyone went apeshit and for the next two songs the crowd was out of it
