King Buzzo -- Dover, NH -- July 9th, 2014

"Failure night in New Hampshire," quipped King Buzzo early on between songs. Quite the sparse crowd there. Barely 100 people there, if that. Didn't stop the artists from putting on incredible performances. King Buzzo commanded the stage, ripping through Melvins tunes and his own solo acoustic songs. He even told a few funny stories in between songs about Iggy Pop (Pop hates playing with Weezer) and Mike Patton (Buzzo mistakenly went on a tirade against Faith No More's cover of War Pigs). Oh yeah, and his hair is awesome.

Emma Ruth Rundle played her brand of acoustic and electric folksy rock. She's such an amazing performer. Seen her With Red Sparowes and Marriages as well. Played a few songs from her solo record, which is fantastic, and a few The Nocturnes songs, which I don't know the names of. Had the privilege of chatting with Emma and her merch girl (Emma's sister Sarah.) Sarah liked my Russian Circles shirt and told me that they came out to Emma's show in Chicago. Mike (of RC) apparently did not like Emma's electric guitar so he gave her his to use for the rest of the tour. Emma also liked my RC shirt and I told her how I saw her in Marriages with them in Boston. She remembered that show and told me a few stories about it. New Marriages record coming soon by the way. Also asked her about what's going on with Red Sparowes. She said they wrote a few new songs awhile ago but theirs no plans for a new record or tour. Check out Emma's stuff if you haven't. It's really, really good.
