Cheap Trick -- Fairfax, VA -- June 7th, 2014

Full Review

Cheap Trick played at the Celebrate Fairfax Festival, and we happened to be there.

They had a good setlist, with a ton of their hits (I missed Dream Police when I went to the rest room). I thought that they were not sounding great, and the crowd was kind of... lackluster. I think the heat got to me, because I did not think it was a great performance despite their great on paper set

Cheap Trick (8:00- 9:30) (supplemented by setlist.fm )
  • Hello There
  • Elo Kiddies
  • California Man (The Move cover)
  • Tonight It's You
  • If You Want My Love

  • In the Street (Big Star cover) (That 70s Song)
  • The Flame
  • Bass Solo
  • I Know What I Want

With all the amazing material they have it's a shame they are doing Don't Be Cruel, the Flame, and the 70s Show song.

Playing these summer fest type of shows is a double edged sword.

It's good for the band because they get good $$, but they play mainly to a crowd who just wants to hear any rock song they know. These aren't the types who afterwards are going to check out the new Cheap Trick record.

Did they really play I Know What I Want twice?
