Journey -- Atlanta, GA -- May 30th, 2014

Tower Of Power:

I had know clue what any of the songs they did were, but they were tight for a funk/soul group. Got boring really fast though.

Steve Miller Band:
1.Jungle Love
2.Take The Money And Run
3.Abrakadabra
4.Space Cowboy
5.Livin' In The U.S.A.
6.Serenade From The Stars
7.Ooh Pooh Pa Do (Jessie Hill cover)
8.The Stake
9.Shu Ba Da Du Ma Ma Ma Ma
10.Dance Dance Dance
11.Wild Mountain Honey
12.Gangster Of Love
13.True Fine Love
14.The Joker
15.Swingtown
16.Rock'n Me
17.Jet Airliner
Encore:
18.Fly Like An Eagle

Nothing too special, but the whole band sounded good and hearing classic songs like Jungle Love and Fly Like An Eagle live was pretty cool. Best song definitely was Rock'n Me and worse was Abrakadabra (that's just because I hate the song).

1.Be Good To Yourself
2.Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)
3.Any Way You Want It
4.Only The Young
5.The Star Spangled Banner (Neal Schon guitar solo)
6.Stone In Love
7.Mother, Father (Dean Castronovo on vocals)
8.She's A Mystery
9.Lights
10.Piano Solo (including snippets of Patiently, When You Love A Woman, Who's Crying Now, Send Her My Love, After All These Years, and Why Can't This Night Go On Forever)
11.Open Arms
12.My Ritual
13.La Do Da
14.Anytime
15.Guitar Solo
16.Wheel In The Sky
17.Faithfully
18.Don't Stop Believin'
Encore:
19.Lovin'; Touchin'; Squeezin'

Epic, truly epic. Arnel totally owns the stage now and interacts with the crowd a lot better than the last two times I've seen them. The Star Spangled Banner and guitar solo that Neal Schon did were just unreal, and Dean Castronovo totally tore Mother, Father up, that guy is just phenomenal. Jonathan Cain's piano medley thing was also very cool. The screens were even better this time, with a lot of the songs using their corresponding album themes to go along with the music (Be Good To Yourself using the electric towers, Any Way You Want It using the winged beetle, etc.). If you get a chance you need to see them. Best song was definitely a tie between Be Good To Yourself and Separate Ways. I hope next time they come it's just them and one opening band, they can definitely pull the show on their own.

They're here in two weeks. Now that I see that Mother Father is on the set, I'm leaning toward going. It's my favorite Journey tune and I don't recall them playing it the one time I saw them in 2009.

If you go because of that song, it will definitely be worth it!

That is a really solid Journey set.

Same Steve Miller set that he always plays.

My free tickets via Live Nation class action settlement got approved, so I'm strongly considering going out to NJ just to see them play this song. I've seen them before, but for whatever reason I can never manage to see them play anything remotely cool and non-obvious, such as this, "Escape", or "Edge of the Blade". Hell, I also am in the minority who loves the last couple albums. Would love to see "Higher Place" or "Never Walk Away".

Journey is definitely another bucket list band for me. If I'm in the right part of CA when they come through this summer, I'll definitely try and see them. They better add Ask the Lonely though. I will throw a total onionfit if they don't play that.

Also Tower of Power rules. Like so much. David Garibaldi is lord.

Their previous albums are awesome, especially Revelation (made it to on my new top 100 albums list actually!). They played Escape two years ago and it was the best song of that performance, but never have seen them do Edge Of The Blade, that would make my day!

Bucket list for me as well, but damn tickets are expensive for decent seats.

I have a hard time pulling the trigger on arena shows now a days when I can see several others in a smaller venue at the fraction of the price.
