Queens Of The Stone Age -- Chicago, IL -- May 9th, 2014

So on Wednesday, I got a call from the radio station 101WKQX that I won tickets to see Queens Of The Stone Age at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago through an online contest of theirs I entered. I'm from Milwaukee and don't drive, but a friend wanted to go and was willing to drive us down to Chicago. The show was yesterday and it was my 2nd time seeing QOTSA, my first time seeing them headline. It was also their 2nd show at the Aragon in Chicago this week, the first being Monday on Cinco de Mayo. Here's my recap of the show:

Chelsea Wolfe (8:00-8:40)-
Feral Love
We Hit A Wall
House Of Metal

^ The opening act was Chelsea Wolfe. I only have her newest album Pain Is Beauty, so I only knew half of the songs she played. I don't exactly know how to describe her, except that she's a goth-like indie singer. She played guitar on a few songs and talk very minimally to the audience. Her set was decent, but I wish the sound was better for her set though.

Queens Of The Stone Age (9:11-10:56)-
You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar, But I Feel Like A Millionaire
No One Knows
My God Is The Sun
Burn The Witch
Smooth Sailing
Misfit Love
...Like Clockwork
If I Had A Tail
Little Sister
I Appear Missing
Make It Wit Chu
I Sat By The Ocean
Sick Sick Sick
3's & 7's
Go With The Flow

The Vampyre Of Time And Memory
Feel Good Hit Of The Summer
A Song For The Dead

^ Queens Of The Stone Age once again put on an awesome show. They didn't have a really elaborate stage setup, but they had a cool lighting rig and a 50-second countdown screen from the moment they walked on stage until the start of the drum intro of opening song "You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar, But I Feel Like A Millionaire" The biggest highlights of me seeing them headline for the first time were "...Like Clockwork" and "Kalopsia", two of my favorite songs off their newest album. Only song I really wish I could have seen, that they played on Monday the first night in Chicago was "In My Head", one of my all-time favorite songs of theirs. But, for a free show and my first time winning tickets through a contest, it was definitely more than worth it!
Upcoming concerts I'm attending-
The Strumbellas (June 19)
The Fray (July 8)
Marilyn Manson (July 16)
