M3 Rock Festival, Day 1 -- Columbia, MD -- April 25th, 2014

Alright so I'm finally home from Maryland, so that means it's time for a review!

Source for sets: Mostly by me, but I used setlist.fm to make sure on some things.

Bad Seed Rising:

I didn't know anything by them and lost count of how many songs they did. They were ok, they have potential but IMO need a lot of work. Unfortunately it started raining pretty good during this performance too.

Winger:
1.Pull Me Under
2.Blind Revolution Mad
3.Easy Come Easy Go
4.Rat Race
5.Headed For A Heartbreak
6.Can't Get Enough
7.Down Incognito
8.Madalaine
9.Seventeen

They were awesome, one of my favorite performances of the entire weekend. They've been one of my favorite bands for as long as I can remember (this was my first time seeing them) and they did not disappoint. Highlight of the performance was definitely Can't Get Enough, though the solo in Madalaine was incredible. Low point of the performance was the heavy rain going on during the whole thing.

Lita Ford:
1.The Bitch Is Back (Elton John cover)
2.Hungry
3.Gotta Let Go
4.Living Like A Runaway (with Cherie Currie)
5.Queens Of Noise (The Runaways song, with Cherie Currie)
6.American Nights (The Runaways song, with Cherie Currie)
7.Cherry Bomb (The Runaways song, with Cherie Currie)
8.Close My Eyes Forever
9.Kiss Me Deadly

She was ok, definitely one of my least favorite performances of the weekend. I've never been a Lita fan anyway, and it didn't help that the mix was terrible (guitar volume dropping/rising constantly, vocal volume dropping/rising constantly, etc.). She definitely was better last time I saw her. Best song I guess was Living Like A Runaway, and low point of the show was unfortunately Kiss Me Deadly (the only song I really like by her). This performance could have and should have been better. Rain let up right as she started.

Extreme:
1.Decadence Dance
2.Kid Ego
3.It ('s A Monster)
4.Rest In Peace
5.Am I Ever Gonna Change
6.Play With Me
7.More Than Words
8.Cupid's Dead
9.Get The Funk Out
10.Hole Hearted

Wow, that's all I got to say. Hands down the best performance of the weekend. The band had so much energy and stage presence, and Nuno was incredible the entire night. I'm glad they kept Decadence Dance as the opener, because they have no better one to be honest. Even though it's a bore, More Than Words was great with the audience singing most of it. Highlight of the show was a tie between Am I Ever Gonna Change and the draw-dropping solo in Play With Me. Only low point was that Gary's vocals weren't high enough in the mix.

Kix:
1.Can't Stop The Show (new song)
2.No Ring Around Rosie
3.The Itch
4.Body Talk (apparently someone offered the band a $1,000 to play this song, which they are far better choices to pick from IMO)
5.Love Me With Your Top Down (new song)
6.Girl Money
7.Don't Close Your Eyes
8.Rock & Roll Overdose
9.Guitar Solo
10.Cold Blood
11.Drum Solo
12.Blow My Fuse
Encore:
13.Midnite Dynamite
14.Yeah Yeah Yeah

They were excellent and put on a very fun show. The bad thing though is that the backing vocals weren't high enough in the mix until the encore, which is why I thought Midnite Dynamite was the highlight of their show. Real happy that they kept Rock & Roll Overdose in the set too.

That's it for the first day, next day coming soon!

How did you make it up there at your age? That's pretty cool.

This was my birthday present, my whole family took a trip up there. We've been planning it since this time last year. My parents are awesome!

Hey TheWildAndTheYoung,

If you had a spare moment to check out the merch booths, did Extreme have any cool looking 'Pornograffitti'-era t-shirt designs? If so, please let me know. I might buy one if they merch carrier does a re-stock for their official website. Thanks in advance!

Oh, and let me know if Kix had any cool t-shirt designs too.

I'm gonna have to disappoint you with the Extreme, they had NO merch at all. If they did I would have bought some in a heartbeat.

Kix had only one t-shirt (which I got), it's pretty cool. It has the Hot Wire album theme with gold instead of copper, and it says Rock And Roll Overdose on the back.
