New Slayer Song

Produced by Terry Date. No wonder the tones are actually awesome, Terry is a badass. Hell, this is probably the best production that anyone in the Big 4 has gotten in a really long time. Maybe the mix could pop a bit more, but methinks this version was mixed and mastered in a rush for the sake of premiering in time for the Golden Gods, the same way Psychopathy Red was for Record Store Day way back in 2008.

As for the track itself, I think Bostaph is kind of holding the song back a little bit. If Lombardo was playing it, I think it would have that extra kick and swing that would make it really awesome. The riffing is also super reminiscent of Trapped Under Ice/Impaler. Tom also sounds really strained when he screams during the choruses, but he sounds fine otherwise. Honestly, this song is about as good as any of us could have hoped for I think. Nothing super inspired or creative like Hanneman might have done, but I'd say it's a better than average King song.

I think the song is great. I do agree with the whole "Bostaph hold back" and "Tom's strained screams during the chorus" stuff. But none the less, it's fast, it's heavy, and then riffs are really fucking cool.

Yeah I found out this morning about NB, haven't listened to the studio version yet but live it only sounded "ok"(but the mix for the live feed wasn't particularly good)

The track just feels mediocre. It's like they're not even trying, especially with the lyrics. I give Tom credit because the dude has given his voice to the band, but vocals aside I feel like this is b-side quality at best.

I'm sure the fact that the guy who ran A&R at Roadrunner working with Nuclear Blast now has a lot to do with it. Nuclear Blast now is basically what Roadrunner was in the early/mid-2000s.

I like the track but it doesn't blow me out of the water; I agree on the views on Tom's voice but he is getting up there and the singing he does in Slayer I'm not surprised and for Paul he does sound held back but I feel like, in Slayer at least he colors within the boxes, shall we say; anytime I listen to a live track with him on it he kills it but he seems like he tries to follow the original drum track to the letter.

I am 50/50 on a new Slayer album, I hope the songs will be a little more polished than this but still all in all it is good they are finally getting off their asses and recording new stuff, wither it turns out to be awesome or just so-so remains to be seen
