Gideon -- Toledo, OH -- April 22nd, 2014

This was at a bar I'd never been to called The Ottawa Tavern. The place was really cool. It was a tiny room, and the stage could barely fit a drum kit, let alone a full band, so the singers & guitarists spent a lot of time on the floor in the midst of the crowd. It was a really cool vibe. The place was packed.

The first band was a group of young kids called Dimentria. Meh.

Next was a band I'd never heard of called Northern Shores. Absolutely incredible! Check these guys out. They stole the show.

Convictions played next. Unfortunately they had problems w/ their kick drum a few songs into their set, so they had to cut it short. Nevertheless, they were fantastic as well. They had the crowd going nuts.

Convictions setlist
The Drifter
The Void
The Art of Breathing
Eros
Heart of Fire
Earth//Born

Arson played next. I had seen them twice before. They used to be called Arson Our Savior. I am a fan, and I was looking forward to seeing them again. The crowd went bonkers for them, but I was not all that impressed. It seemed to me that they were trying a bit too hard to be heavy or tough. Their performance came off as insincere to me. Sorry if that doesn't make any sense.

Gideon headlined. This was my first time seeing them as a headliner, and I was super-excited. They didn't take the stage until 10:40, and they were done by 11:10. I'm not sure if their set got cut short because the show was running late, but I really didn't care. They were excellent as always! I had a great time, and I can't wait to see them again. This entire show was a blast!

Gideon setlist
Prodigal Son
Kingdom Minded
Mask
Still Alive
False Profits
Gutter
Bad Blood
Costs
Unworthy

They were the only band on that tour worth half a crap.

Gideon are easily one of my favorite interviews I've ever done.

Yeah, I skipped the Emmure tour because Gideon was really the only band I like. Thy Art Is Murder is OK, too.

BTW, the first song Convictions played was "The Drifter." Check em out if you've never heard em before. I love their music, and they are bonkers live. Good stuff.
