Mastodon -- Seattle, WA -- April 28th, 2014

According to setlist.fm:

Hearts Alive
Divinations
Crusher Destroyer
Capillarian Crest
Black Tongue
Bladecatcher
Crystal Skull
Trampled Under Hoof
Siberian Divide
Naked Burn
Megalodon
Oblivion
Octopus Has No Friends

Encore:
Chimes At Midnight (new song)
High Road (new song)
Aqua Dementia
The Sparrow

I'm actually excited to see Mastodon, now. I can't complain with this set, at all.

Gojira's set was the biggest surprise:

To Sirius
The Heaviest Matter of the Universe
Backbone
Flying Whales
L'Enfant Sauvage
Toxic Garbage Island
In the Forest
Blow Me Away You(niverse)

For a direct support slot, playing 1 song from each of their last 2 albums is genuinely surprising. Again, no complaints. I've never seen the 2 from "Terra Incognita," before, and the song "To Sirius," is pretty rare, live. I've only seen it once out of the 7 times I've seen them, so, that's a cool opener.

Kvelertak's set wasn't up, unfortunately, and both 'Jira and Mastodon like to change up their sets each night, so, I'm pretty stoked to see what happens on this tour. And then there's always the possibility that someone is trolling with these sets, but we'll see...

Most of that's not very surprising at all. I guess it's the first one and the last two. But then, they do what people like Overkill do and throw in two or three different songs every tour, so I'd have expected something like this to happen myself.

What will be interesting is if they keep this through the Summer, or change it again once they get back to Europe. I've seen most of this, so I'm hoping they change it.

I actually drove down from Vancouver for this show.

Holy fuck it was incredible. Unfortunately missed most of Kvelertak due to delays at the border but both Gojira and Mastodon were incredibly top notch (this easily being the best Mastodon performance out of the 3 I've seen now).

Also, metal shows are very noticeably different in the USA than in Canada (or at least comparing Seattle and Vancouver..). I was pretty surprised at this. My whole crew had a fantastic time. Much love goes out to the land of the free.

PS Mastodon didn't stop for an encore break. They pretty much played straight through that entire set, and then stopped briefly before The Sparrow. 10/10 for sure.

Setlist is amazing (Naked Burn, Hearts Alive and Crusher Destroyer) but closing with "The Sparrow" yet again is a huge boner kill.

Not necessarily. That just means you can leave before the rest of the crowd does.

Now THAT is what I'm talking about Mastodon. I think I'm excited to see them live again! To Sirius is a severely underrated Gojira song as well (especially with From Mars leading into it)

I jizzed when I saw that Mastodon set. Pretty surprised that no Blood and Thunder, it's their most played song, great closer to me and it could be played on second encore after The Sparrow.

Hearts Alive and Naked Burn, oh man! But I'm not convinced if Octopus Has No Friends is the right song to close the main set, but as it was said before, we're not sure if there was even an encore after octopus.
