I only disliked the remake because the original was such a huge part of my younger years. So it's like adding new scenes to Star Wars, don't fuck with what I grew up with.

I won't tell you NOT to play Mystic Quest. It's just a huge step down from everything they've done.

Final Fantasy VII
Japanese Release Date: January 31st, 1997
North American Release Date: September 7th, 1997
Original Platform: Sony Playstation

I always say this: this is not my favorite Final Fantasy game. But it’s probably the best Final Fantasy game. It has everything you would want. The best aspects of all the combat and gameplay. A great story (probably the darkest story in the Final Fantasy universe). A great lead character and lead villain. Tifas’ boobs. Great music. Enough secrets and side quests to eat up some of your life but not much of your life. If you were interested in Final Fantasy but overwhelmed by where to start I would say start right here. The only drawback is that graphically it looks TERRIBLE. But I’ve heard there’s going to be an HD remake so that would help it greatly.

Favorite Moment: even though it’s a very popular moment I have to say Sephiroth walking through the flames of Nibelheim
Best Song: Who…Are You?
Coolest Character: Sephiroth
Lamest Character: Cait Sith
Average Completion Time: 40 hours
Gameplay Demo: the intro up to the first boss
Rating: 4 out of 5

Final Boss: Safer-Sepiroth

So many classic video game moments in this game!

- Cloud realizing that he is a clone
- The flashbacks in the Nibelheim Reactor
- The library scene (all centered around Sephiroth)
- Summoning Nights of the Round for the first time
- Getting that Golden Chocobo
- Quadra Magic + Bahamut Zero
- Leaving Midgar

Just so great!

I like that you left out Aeriths death. That is probably the most iconic moment in Final Fantasy history but let's face it; Aerith sucked.

The game got so fucked up and dark once they got to Nibelhelm. If the graphics were enhanced it could be in the top five of all Final Fantasies but playing it just gave me a headache. As it is I'd say it's around seventh or eighth.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that . It was a very iconic moment for sure, but I never got too attachted to her character, especially since Tifa and Cloud had more of a history.

I can't wait to see your write up for VIII.

I love Aerith's death, screw you guys!

FF VII's overall influence can't be overstated in my opinion. That game is still a standard in dynamic story-telling and character development in a video game. I think it, 6, 9 and 10 are the games that most get me emotional when I play them. They create such an atmosphere have such an identity to them that is just so distinctive and incredible.

My favorite Final Fantasy of all time. Music was amazing for every scene in the game.
