Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy
Japanese Release Date: March 3rd, 2011
North American Release Date: March 22nd, 2011
Original Platform: Playstation Portable

An prequel to the first which would maybe be more fun since it has more characters and locations from past games. It has Lightning (from XIII)Öbecause we can never get enough of her.

Are you serious? How has that goof become the poster-child for Final Fantasy? If anyone should be the face of Final Fantasy it should be Cloud, Sephiroth, Garland, Kefka, a nameless warrior or even Aerith. Not one of the worst leads in the series' history. But I think she gives Japanese boys wood so they keep her around.

Coolest Character (Based off actions in previous games): Sephiroth
Lamest Character (Based off actions in previous games): Tidus
Gameplay Demo: Terra verses Lightning...I hope Terra kicks her ass

Final Boss: Chaos' Elite Warriors (The Emperor, Kefka, Garland, Ultimecia and the Cloud of Darkness (looking as hot as always))

Well yes, but it got relaunched a few years later. I'll get to that.

Final Fantasy Type-O
Japanese Release Date: October 27th, 2011
Original Platform: Playstation Portable

All I know about this game is that it was only released in Japan and it's set in the XIII universe but doesn't have Lightning. "doesn't have Lightning". That's enough to sell it to me.

Gameplay Demo: second mission

Final Boss: l'Cie Arbitor of the Lulusath

Final Fantasy XIII-2
Japanese Release Date: December 15th, 2011
North American Release Date: January 31st, 2011
Original Platforms: Sony Playstation 3, Xbox 360

This game caught me by surprise. I actually LIKED it. Like I said, Iím not sure some times how I felt about Final Fantasy XIII but Iím pretty sure I didnít like it. But this was a great game. It wasnít just because Snow, Lighting and Vanille have small or nonexistent roles. It was just that it took me back to a few of the places that I loved in XIII, it had a bad guy who wasnít a pseudo-homo, the new character Noel was actually cool and Serah (this is the biggest surprise) was actually a LIKEABLE character as well. And they kept everything I liked from Final Fantasy XIII; the same combat, the Crystalarium leveling system and the same design. I didnít know what to think with this game. Not to mention a great soundtrack, which leaned more to the electronic side of things but was welcomed. I was shocked. The story is a bit hard to follow thanks to the time traveling. Having to pay for DLC to get the true game was a huge rip-off. And since it was a sequel to XIII there was a lot of the story that was brought over from that game, and I just didnít care. I canít say to just play this one without playing XIII because youíll be lost. But if you were burned by XIII donít NOT play this game. I couldnít believe that not only did I like it but how MUCH I liked it.

Favorite Moment: going back to Oerba in 200AF was very emotional
Best Song: Village & Void
Coolest Character: Noel
Lamest Character: Snow
Gameplay Demo: random Japanese gameplay, seems a bit slow to me though
Rating: 4 out of 5

Final Boss(es): Garnet Bahamut (support), Jet Bahamut and Amber Bahamut (support)

I had to watch it a couple times to fully grasp WTF was going on (I think I got thrown off in the Lost City part, couldn't tell if there was a flashback or what), but it certainly blew Spirits Within away.

No, it was actually really good. The key with Final Fantasy now for me is to go in with very low expectations. It did that with XIII-2 and I think that helped me enjoy it more. But I went in to XIII with very high expectations and got burned.

I'm actually thinking about giving Spirits Within another shot. But only if my brother has it or I can find some other way to watch it for free (even though the DVD is probably five dollars at Wal-Mart).
