I understand the background the Nails guys came out of, but their material seems like straight metal or even death metal to me. Only hardcore vibe I get from them is the song lengths.

On the Terror and TGI, I actually have a smidge of insight. I was talking to Walter from Rotting Out and from what he says, I agree with Scott. According to Walt, Scott was pretty blitzed when he said all that shit, but I agree with him. Again, according to Walt Scott was calling out the band in the way they act. Not the music. Walt talked about he grew up with Johnathan Vigil. And how basically he was an asshole. They would always talk about supporting the scene and shit like that, but would never go to local shows unless they played. How they made fun of hardcore kids, and were just crazy pretentious. To me (yes I'm going to be that guy) hardcore is about more than just the style. There's a mindset that goes into it, and Scott Vogel defends hardcore more openly than any other frontman. He may haveaaid it in a shitty way, but I agree with the idea.

Yeah but I think now TGI mentality may have changed. We will see this summer if Scott makes amends with John.

Also I mean I remember hearing about the tour when STYG opened for Terror and the crowds would give STYG shit for not being true hardcore.

This. The time I saw Terror he drank like a gallon of Vodka straight up and by the end could barely stand up.

Walter Delgado from Rotting Out is one of the coolest dudes I've ever talked with/interviewed, and he knows more about hardcore than just about anyone.

he never rants but he has mentioned it live when I see em. Only one time did he go on a long talk about it was when they played Engine 45 for first time at Chain Reaction when the new album just dropped. Makes sense since the song is about addiction.
