Seriously WTF... Just WTF.

I didn't know Dave, just his music through GWAR and DBX. The GWAR concerts I attended (along with Motorhead Jeff) are some of my fondest metal memories. Some of his web posts were ... IDK..... this tweet: "Glad to hear Randy Blythe has escaped the clutches of the infamous Czech justice system. Now he can get back where he belongs, blowing me. — Oderus Urungus". It's just funny. The guy made me laugh and smile. We live in a fucked up world at times, and anyone that dies (50 isn't that old) that brings a little warmth to your heart.. well, it's loss. Yeah, didn't really know him but will absolutely miss him.
Jaco died for our sins so that modern bass players could be free to play more and be heard.

This was terrible news to wake up to this morning. I got a text from my friend about it while I was still in bed and at first I thought it was some kind of joke.

I wish I could have seen them one more time. They're definitely finished now. Bass and guitar have always been kind of a revolving door in this band but without Dave, there is no Gwar.

I tried to write something about Dave. I didn't do a very good job, but I hope I did him a bit of justice.

I am doing the same for my radio show today. i had a whole playlist all ready to go, but today changed everything. I start off the show with GWAR and ending it with GWAR with a bit of a memorial to Brockie after the first song in support.

I think Beyond Hell is awesome, very entertaining. I didn't really care for the last two albums, it's like the same shit over and over. Maybe if I listen to them more they will grow.

News is fucking terrible. Sucks. He was a truly unique / gifted musician / artist / author. If you get the chance, read Wharghoul. It was probably more hilarious/disgusting/epic/offensive than all of what Gwar did. I recommend it.

It is kind of darkly fitting that his final album was a tribute to a fallen brother.

Being from Virginia originally, I was blessed to see GWAR three times over the years. Seeing them play a two hour long set on New Years Eve in 2008 is still probably one of my favorite shows to this day, even after the terrible openers. Dave was such a gifted talent and artist. He'll be missed a lot. RIP.

This is terrible and incredibly surprising news. I'm now kicking myself for not taking the opportunity to see them live during any of the numerous chances I've had over the years. R.I.P, he will be sorely missed in the metal community.

Apparently he was planning another tour that would involve Doyle, I don't know what the future holds for the rest if the guys but I really hope they atleast take this year's BBQ and make it a celebration of his life.
