21. Terminator 2: Judgement Day

Do I really need to explain this one? Arnie proving he can act, and James Cameron proving an action film can be an emotionally driven experience with characters and a premise you truly care about. Teminator 2 merges horror, drama, comedy and action into a sci-fi powerhouse of a film. So good.

You could have just posted the movie poster for that one and written absolutely nothing. T2 is awesome.

Scarface and T2.... I think you can end the list with that

T2 was my favorite movie as a young'n..... and still holds as an amazing film to this day. I remember being scared of the dream sequence, though, when Sara Connor is looking at the playground ....

Incredible scene, I maintain it's one of the most daring pieces of emotional exposition ever put into an action film.

Yeah, things are going to get a little bit controversial from here on out, I think. My favorite films aren't all generally considered the BEST

I love T2. And if it wasn't for that movie Fear Factory's Demanufacture wouldn't have had any samples.

T2 is one of the greatest action movies of all time. I'm pretty sure there's only two types of people; those who love Terminator 2 and those who haven't seen it.

20. Beauty and the Beast

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's Disney and it's romantic and it's idealistic, I get it. I love Disney films, I truly do. Technically they are very impressive - I'm not sure any other animation studio can boast the longevity Disney's repertoire can. They inspire, they're catchy, they're simultaneously easy to grasp while still bearing a message that is often worth thinking about.

Anyway, my favorite is torn between this and a couple of others, but this is winning out right now. I'm a sucker for the romance of this, the Beast whose truly a sweetheart deep down, the Beauty who wants to reject everything society wants to decide for her; there's a lot of rebellion in this film and a lot of acceptance amongst the misfits. The soundtrack is one of my favorites, I mean, Angela Lansbury doing the title track? Makes me well up everytime.

It's cheesy, but dam if it ain't the kind of cheese we need sometimes.

Wasn't quite expecting that after T2! At any rate, out of all the movies I've watched multiple times, Beauty and the Beast may be the movie I've watched the most. My little sister received a VHS of it when she was like, five and it was the only thing she wanted to watch that entire summer when we were off school. There's a good chance I watched at least part of it every day that summer! Anyway, it really is a good movie -- and those fucking songs! I can still hear them!

IT. IS. ALIVE.

19. Alien

35 years old last Sunday. I remember seeing it when it wasn't even 20 years old. Though it's always a toss up between this and Aliens for which is a better film, the horror geek in me clings to this too much. What is there to be said that hasn't been said a million times? Changed the landscape for science fiction, horror and cinema in general in a big way. One of the most claustrophobic, paranoid films ever and one that showed, much like it's 70's alumni Jaws, just how clever and minimalist one can be when trying to scare and subdue an audiences disbelief.

The fact that there is still a demand for more of this imagery is a testament to the work of Giger, Scott, Weaver, O'Bannon and co. I don't think it's needed, and though this film shows it's cracks after 35 years, like any well worn, well built structure, it still stands tall over most of what's come out since.
