I'm really digging it and James's vocals sound fine to me. The melodic part at 5:25 to the solo is so sweet! So classic sounding! Also, they did say somewhere that the new album is going to be a continuation of Death Magnetic. I really enjoyed DM, but I hope they put even more of an old school sound into the new stuff.

I like it. It seems like they are sticking with the Death Magnetic style which is all right by me.

This is what happens when guys in their 50s play thrash for the sake of supporting their millionaire lifestyles.

I think it is a pretty good song other than the production (which doesn't really matter since it is a demo). If they build on what they had with Death magnetic, I am OK with that, so long as the production is better and not so hollow.

Whatever, I like it more than most of the songs on Death Magnetic.

The song is OK. It doesn't need to be 8 minutes long though. This is probably my biggest gripe with modern Metallica. Death Magnetic features 7 songs out of 10 that are over 7 minutes!! Why?! Yes, Lightning, Puppets and Justice all featured lots of lengthy songs, but they mostly had the chops to support the length. Metallica have declined as musicians and songwriters since that time -- considerably. Unless they're pulling out stuff like Bleeding Me or Outlaw Torn, I don't wanna see anything over 5:00.

This, I agree 100%

Maybe we should send Lars a card stating this and cutting songs to 5 minutes or less = less drumming maybe he'll go for it

It's too long, it could probably be assembled into a decent 4 minute song, but at like 8 and a half it just drags

You're right, most don't. But there are still the idiots that expect 50 year old multi-millionaires to write the same quality music that angry 23 year old outcasts did.
