This Will Destroy You - New Album / Tour

From Stereogum:

Quote:
This Will Destroy You make instrumental rock as beautiful as it is crushingly heavy, and at the end of the summer they’ll release their new album, Another Language. Its first single, “Dustism,” spends about two-and-a-half minutes building a wall of guitars and slow-motion drums before stripping everything back to a small, barely there 4/4 pulse. By the end of the song they’ve worked their way back to another climax so big and lush it dwarfs the song’s initial peak. Listen to it below and check out the band on tour.

Another Language is out in the US 9/16 via Suicide Squeeze with a cassette release via Holodeck. It will be released in Australia and New Zealand via Hobbledehoy Records.

Although I wasn't crazy about their 2011 release Tunnel Blanket, I do have such an intense love for their self-titled 2008 release and their 2006 debut EP "Young Mountain" that I am extremely excited about this. My hope is that they haven't forgotten that their melodic side is what put them on the map and earned them numerous appearances in TV and movie soundtracks. Their live performances seem to indicate that they haven't forgotten their roots, so hopefully their next album does the same.

...and fuck it - regardless of the new album's contents, I've still never seen them live and definitely won't pass up the opportunity if I can at all help it.

Anxiously awaiting new TWDY...

Time to necro this bitch...

So nobody gives a rat's ass? Really?

@dc: The s/t album is a pure fucking masterpiece of post rock. So beautiful. Start there for sure. Their debut "Young Mountain" is awesome as well. Their latest album "Tunnel Blanket" is a bit of a departure from their previous work, and not everyone liked it. I had mixed feelings on it myself.

Hope that helps. Enjoy.

If Mastodon weren't the same day, I would go to this instead.
