5. Super Smash Bros. (N64)

The ultimate party game. A great spin on the fighting games featuring all your favorite characters from Nintendo franchises. This game really needs no explanation. Everyone's played it. I wasn't big on the sequel for Gamecube. It nerfed my favorite character (Pikachu) a bit, but it did add some to my favorite level (Hyrule Temple).

! Smash Bros really is the best multiplayer hangout vidjagame, without a doubt. Any entry in the series will do, can't hate on a single smash game. It may not be my favorite game ever, but for the specific role it fills, it is undefeated.

Will say that someone in my dorm had the Smash Bros. for Wii and no joke we had a tournament every week for a whole semester and it was fucking amazing.

I will wreck anyone's shit with Mr. Game & Watch.

One of the top 3 hangovers in my life was SmashBros related.

We had excess beer in my suite in college that we wanted to just burn through. So we started playing SSB. This evolved to a twisted game where we played 2 minute matches where the loser had to drink an entire beer. I lost a lot and lets face it most people cheat and drink like half a beer after the first two or so but I've never been one to do that with my drinking (which is almost definitely not worthwhile behavior ) For my young and resilient body , the morning after that was an unprecedentedly bad experience.

4. Pokemon Crystal (Gameboy Color, Gameboy Emulator, Android)

Probably my proudest achievement in a video game to date is when my friend and I captured all 250 Pokemon in Pokemon Gold. Pretty much all of elementary school and a bit of middle school was spent playing the first six Pokemon games on my Gameboy color and then again in high school when I completed the goal of every Pokemon trainer. More recently, I've killed many hours on my computer with an emulator and an app on my phone. Point is, I fucking love these games. In the end, I've played the Generation II games more because the "story mode" is longer and fuck not being able to press A to cut.

Other great games in the series: Pokemon Blue, Pokemon Red, Pokemon Gold, Pokemon Silver, Pokemon Fire Red

3. Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox)

The best FPS to ever be released and a complete game changer for the genre in general. There's really not much to be said about this that hasn't already been said. Everyone has played this and what the fuck is wrong with you if you haven't? Probably the best Campaign of all time. "Truth & Reconciliation", "Silent Cartographer" and "Assault on the Control Room" are some of the best levels in anything ever. The multiplayer was phenomenal with iconic maps such as "Blood Gulch." Yeah, this game still kicks so much ass to this day. The sequels have all been pretty good, but will never live up to the original.

Other great games in the series: Halo 3

2a. Crash Bandicoot: Warped (Playstation)

My favorite platformer series of all time. The preceding game in the series was the first video game I ever played. I think I played this one more overall though and eventually got 100% in it. All the different locales are consistently interesting as are the different monsters and junk. Plus, once you get the bazooka, shit gets real.

2b. Crash Team Racing (Playstation)

My most played game on any pre-360 console by far. I played this game so fucking much that I memorized the various paths the NPCs took on most levels for better placement of weapons. Gimme all the shit you want, but this is better than Mario Kart by miles and is the best racing game of all time.

Other great games in the series: Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, Crash Bash
