Ulcerate US Tour 2014

http://www.earsplitcompound.com/site...ion-announced/

Quote:
In support of their most demoralizing recorded works to date with their fourth LP, Vermis, New Zealand death metal innovators, ULCERATE, will bring their audio terror to North American fans this Spring, on their second tour of the continent.

Sponsored by Metal Injection, ULCERATE will inundate the American and Canadian peoples for nineteen days and nights on the Vermis North America MMXIV tour, which will include the band’s first shows on the West Coast. Beginning the first day of May, the horde will bring their incredibly destructive, dynamic style of delivering the most extreme, cutting edge death metal imaginable to a clockwise arc of cities, the mayhem coming to a close with a performance at the massive, annual Maryland Death Fest on May 19th. Support for ULCERATE will be provided by Relapse lablemates, Inter Arma, on the majority of the dates, joining the tour in Philadelphia on the 9th and pushing through until May 21st, the final date of the tour before MDF.

Vermis North America MMXIV will be ULCERATE’s first return to the continent since their initial stateside mini-tour in 2012, culminated with their memorably punishing set at Maryland Deathfest that year. Stated the band on the upcoming live incursion, “After months of planning we are now in full lockdown mode with rehearsals for what is going to be one of the most intense tours we’ve done to date. We can’t wait to bring the Vermis material to life and finally attack both East and West coasts of the continent – particularly with Inter Arma joining us for the second half of the run.”

ULCERATE Vermis North America MMXIV:
5/01/2014 Complex – Los Angeles, CA
5/02/2014 Elbo Room – San Francisco, CA
5/03/2014 Tonic Lounge – Portland, OR
5/04/2014 The Highline – Seattle, WA
5/06/2014 Starlight Lounge – Sacramento, CA
5/09/2014 Boot & Saddle – Philadelphia, PA w/ Inter Arma
5/10/2014 Saint Vitus Bar – Brooklyn, NY w/ Inter Arma
5/11/2014 Middle East Upstairs – Boston, MA w/ Inter Arma
5/12/2014 Les Katacombes – Montreal, QC w/ Inter Arma
5/13/2014 Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Noranda – Rouyn-Noranda, QC w/ Inter Arma
5/14/5012 Comfort Zone – Toronto, ON w/ Inter Arma
5/15/2014 Corktown Tavern – Detroit, MI w/ Inter Arma
5/16/2014 Cobra Lounge – Chicago, IL w/ Inter Arma
5/17/2014 Brass Rail – Fort Wayne, IN w/ Inter Arma
5/18/2014 Carabar – Columbus, OH w/ Inter Arma
5/19/2014 The Shop – Pittsburgh, PA w/ Inter Arma
5/20/2014 Strange Matter – Richmond, VA w/ Inter Arma
5/21/2014 Empire – Springfield, VA w/ Inter Arma
5/25/2014 Maryland Deathfest – Baltimore, MD

Since their 2009 debut on Neurotic and two LPs via Willowtip previous to releasing Vermis, ULCERATE has strived to continually hone and contort their death metal attack, their sound ever-evolving into harsh new realms of turmoil, melding mechanical and organic elements into their haunting, blast-strewn explosiveness. A forward-thinking death metal style citing Hate Eternal, Gorguts and Immolation collides head-on into more dissonant and blackened infiltrations of Deathspell Omega or Portal forming a monolithic antiharmonic atrocity, ULCERATE’s destructive methodology is in a class of its own, and the critically-lauded Vermis, showcases these traits at their most ominous and harrowing yet. With nearly fifty-five minutes of suffocating devastation and some of the most destructive and creative drumming in the extreme metal underworld, and arguably one of 2013’s overall most extreme releases, Vermis is not to be missed.

Stream Vermis in its entirety via the Relapse Records Bandcamp RIGHT HERE.

“Jamie Saint Merat bashes out more seemingly impossible ‘rhythms’ in a minute than most drummers will manage in a career. It’s less an ad for Vermis than a badass example of human capability.” – Decibel

“In any discussion about bands that are pushing death metal into new and uncharted territory, New Zealand’s Ulcerate have become a frequent refrain… Vermis is incredibly dense — in fact, it’s downright suffocating at times.” – Revolver

“With such overreaching bleakness and no hope of salvation, it seems that the end of the world might have found its soundtrack. 9/10″ – Outburn

“There’s little space, but it’s not lawless– there’s a tight grip at work here… It’s true that many bands live or die by their drummer, but for Ulcerate’s flights of tar-drenched fancy, only Saint Merat has the skill and the feel.” – Pitchfork

“The blackness and hopeless abandonment of floating through space combines with the crushing force of a black hole to form Ulcerate’s sound… truly one of the heaviest, most atmospheric and precise death metal bands in the world.” – Loudwire

“Like Enslaved, Ulcerate has become one of those bands who reliably put out amazing music and it would be rather fruitless to try and decide whether Vermis is ‘better’ or ‘not better’ than Everything Is Fire or Destroyers of All. It’s an Ulcerate album, and all metal is better off for its existence. 9.5/10″ – Last Rites

Yeah, that tour routing is pretty weird. Whatever, I'm just glad they decided to come back after being robbed here last time.

Nah, routing's fine. Why fly from New Zealand all the way to the east coast? It's not like they're flying a drum set over.

Glendale!!! My neck of the woods haha

It is a solid venue though. Good craft beer, decent sound system, free street parking.
