Arrow I'm moving!

The nightmare year I've been going through is over! I found a new job and leaving the high-cost state of NY, and as of May 1st I'll will be in my new home of St. Louis, MO!

Anyone have any advice on the city and/or does anyone live there, maybe we could hang out and go to a show?

This is awesome!

St. Louis is a good place to live! And now you can come to Kansas City for some shows!

I don't live in St. Louis but I like St. Louis and I go there frequently. There is not as much to do as New York City obviously, but there is still a good variety of sights and sounds. There are tons of malls, several ice rinks, Dave & Busters, etc. There are also a lot of good restaurants, especially if you like pasta.

There is a pretty good medium sized zoo, which is free. It is in Forest Park which is a large park just west of downtown. They have a science center and a children's museum. There are 2 or 3 iMax theaters in the area.

They have very good sports stadiums. I prefer hockey and the Scottrade Center is a good hockey arena. The Blues have had good teams lately. The new Busch Stadium is an excellent baseball stadium. The Edward Jones Dome is almost 20 years old now but I think it is a good place for football games. I have enjoyed the games that we have been to there even though the Rams haven't been very good lately.

Unfortunately, St. Louis doesn't get nearly as many shows as back in the 80's/early 90's. I end up going to Chicago for shows more often than St. Louis or Indianapolis. They have a good outdoor amphitheater called Verizon Wireless which usually has good sound. The Scottrade is pretty good for arena shows. The small venues are definitely lacking though. I like the Pageant which is sort of a smaller theater. The floor seats are not permanent so they have a lot of general admission shows. But the clubs are not the greatest. Pop's is an all night club across the river which I go to a lot but it is not much of a venue. It is more of a bar with a stage. The stage is decent size though, so it is where most of the bigger name small tours go (i.e. Testament, Overkill, etc.). The Firebird and Fubar are downtown but they are very small with stages that will barely accommodate a band with a normal amount of gear. I have been to decent shows at both but the sound is nothing to write home about and the stages are too small for much of a stage show. Lately this is where the smaller tours have been (i.e. Death Angel, Graveyard, Russian Circles, etc.)

P.M. me if you have specific questions and I will try to answer them for you.

And your first show in St. Louis can be Slayer/Suicidal/Exodus at the Pageant!

I'm working for a travel company, BCD Travel building event attendee registration websites contracting out to PwC. I used to do this for Ernst & Young before my life fell apart so it's something I know how to do thank god.
