Battlecross -- Westland, MI -- January 25th, 2014

Wulfhook opened the show. They also opened the Battlecross Christmas show in Flint last month. They're pretty good.

Next was a death metal band called Gutrot. I watched about 3 or 4 of their songs. 99% of death metal doesn't do it for me. Their drummer used to play drums in The Black Dahlia Murder, so that's pretty cool.

A Canadian metal band called Crimson Shadows played next. I thought they were amazing. They completely stole the show. If I had to compare them to another band, I'd say they are similar to Dragonforce, but heavier and not nearly as over-the-top w/ their guitar solos. Check this band out!

Battlecross headlined. This was their final American show before they go to Europe to tour w/ Trivium, Miss May I, and Killswitch Engage. The place was packed, and the pit was going off for their whole set. The highlight was "Flesh & Bone." That's my favorite song of theirs. They always put on an excellent, high energy live show. Setlist:

Force Fed Lies
My Vaccine
Wage a War
Kaleb
Never Coming Back
Ghost Alive
Never-Ending Night
Man of Stone
Flesh & Bone
Beast
Get Over It
Push Pull Destroy

Glad to see these guys getting more recognition! They're one of my all-time favourite bands.

Their older stuff was more similar to Dragonforce in terms of the sheer length of the solos, but they seemed to have cut it down on the EP.
