Yeah, I'm not sure what kind a world somebody lives on when they consider a prog band to be a jam band.

The only kind if jam vibe BTBAM has is when tbehbay Selkies live or something. Nothing else about then is very jam band. It's calculated prog stuff

calculated is the key word.

jam bands are largely defined by the abundance of improvisation, not even necessarily by a style or sound (though most sound like the fucking grateful dead).

BTBAM has little to no improv. not to mention sound absolutely nothing like the dead or phish.

Hopefully Periphery aren't on it again
I'd be surprised if The Faceless was on it. Glass Casket is allegedly working on new material and Wes Hauch just joined as their second guitarist and I wouldn't be surprised if The Faceless was also working on new material over the summer. Honestly I think the only Sumerian band that will be on this year is After the Burial.

remember the last time they had death metal legends headline? 4 bands under them that im guessing arent your definition of extreme

If we're talking about Summer Slaughter lineups that aren't all stylistically similar, how can we forget 2009?

I was skeptical about the Morbid Angel teasers, but I looked through the old posts on the SS Facebook page and they start posting confirmed bands in mid January, so it looks like this is set. I should also mention that for last year's tour Gojira was only posted by SS early on (in October) and the reason everybody here expected them to be on the lineup was that Wolverinekills claimed they were confirmed.

Edit: I just noticed that I pretty much reiterated detuned's more detailed post on the second page.

the teases were as follows:

2012
2011.10.12 - exhumed (yes)
2011.10.15 - hate eternal (no but were offered according to MPF)
2011.12.31 - cannibal corpse & between the buried and me (yes)
2012.02.01 - band announcements start

2013
2012.10.05 - children of bodom & dillinger escape plan (no, yes)
2012.10.07 - gojira & black dahlia murder (no, no)
2012.12.28 - all shall perish (no)
2013.01.11 - the ocean (yes)
2013.01.27 - aeon (yes)
2013.02.04 - cattle decapitation (yes)
2013.02.06 - revocation (yes)
2013.03.22 - lineup announcement

as you can see, by the beginning of each year they clearly had the bands pretty solidified. its not exactly unreasonable to think any bands teased at this point lean more to the side of likely than unlikely.

Yeah, I don't think they would post two updates in a row concerning them if they weren't basically confirmed.
