Aside for one obvious badass thing (dont wanna spoil it) the whole movie fell flat. The plot was stupid, dragged, and had major holes in it. The characters were boring and the acting was horrible (except for Bryan Canston, but, well, you'll see) and the fight scenes, well, they didn't even show two of them! By the time shit starts to get good, I was already mentally drained by disappointment that I couldn't even enjoy it.

Of course the plot had major holes in it, it's a film containing giant prehistoric monsters. I'm not sure what you were expecting, but writing a story whose baseline is 'So, big monsters...' and having it make total sense without making it veer away from the core point isn't easy and if the plot had have been more thought-out, you'd probably complain about it being too complicated and just wanting more focus on monsters. I really liked the minimalism with the monsters appearances, made the end pay-off super sweet and kept it tonally in line with the original Godzilla. The acting I didn;t think was that bad. I mean, yeah, hardly Oscar worthy, but Cranston and Watanabe were both on fine form. Besides, judging a film like Godzilla on bad acting really doesn't cut it for me - you weren't seeing that film for the acting or the actors involved, don't act like it should be a pressing matter now.

The pay-off was just that, a pay-off. At the end, I, at least, was thoroughly entertained. Hardly a 'smart' film, but entertaining? For me, hell yes.

All of this.
Grew up on all of the old Toho movies, so this was pretty much what I was expecting. A smartly done modern reworking of how those movies were.

Yeah I saw Godzilla 3D and fell asleep almost a few times. 4/5ths of the movie is fucking boring. Boring story, bland characters and you barely see Godzilla till the end.

Only good things were any moment Godzilla is actually on screen and the CGI.

GODZILLA was fucking solid! If ya didnt like it then your a pussy

Id give it a 7.75:
+Monster battle sequences
+Nice basic story
+Godzilla looked and sounded like a badass...
-Other monsters looked bland and funky at best
-Cranston couldve been replaced and movie wouldve been just as good
-Too long, shouldve used some of the build time for a background Godzilla sequence

Current movie list:
1) Grand Budapest Hotel- 10/10
2) Lego Movie- 9.5/10
3)Godzilla-7.75/10
4)Neighbors-7.5/10
5)Noah-7.5/10
6)Cap America 2-7/10
7)Lone Survivor-7/10
8)Amazing Spidey 2-6.5/10

I have no doubt that the new X-Men is going to suck hard, but I'm totally digging this character design.

I'm trying to talk my girlfriend into taking in a couple flasks and going to watch Godzilla on Friday. Is this a good idea or should we watch it sober?
