They've been talking about a Deadpool solo film for years now. I'd like to see one, but I guess one of the hesitations is maybe how much mainstream interest there would be in the character?

I don't think it's going to be as big budget as the other Marvel movies of late. I think the hesitance is in content. Deadpool is not an easy character to transfer to screen anyway due to his flamboyance, but throw in the violence that HAS to follow in his stead for it to be a true to the character adaptation and it could be difficult.

A Tarantino or Gareth Evans directed one would be KILLER, though.

It'd surely have more mainstream appeal than Guardians of The Galaxy and Ant-Man...

No thanks.

Maybe, but since Guardians and Ant-Man are part of the Marvel cinematic universe to tie in with Avengers 2 and 3 (respectively), those can be looked at as means to ends. Unless Deadpool would be a tie-in with the Xmen universe.

From what I've heard the problem is funding. No one wants to found a insane over the top violent and vulgar R rated comic film.

Look at Dredd, film got stellar reviews and might get a sequel if someone will fund that but the film didn't gross a lot in the states.

Yup, Dredd might be getting a sequel because it has festered in the underground - box office it barely made it's money, but fans were driven enough to start an online campaign and are actively hijacking every popularity contest they can to get Dredd publicity. 2000 AD even push all the posts online and printed advertisements in the comics. Marvel wouldn't bother doing that for Deadpool because they already have much bigger projects to look after.

Honestly, I can't think fo any one reason why Deadpool isn't happening, but it's not like Marvel aren't churning them out regardless.

I did think that was the point.

You must love popularity as a superpower

So, Captain America 3 and Batman Vs. Superman feat. every DC hero they can shoe-horn in in 2016. That'll be interesting. My money's on Cap, Marvel are too set up with a trusting fanbase.

And yes, I quite like the Singer X-Men films in general.
