Although it's random, I am interested in this type of thing. Where do you get the info from?

I've always wondered how much the venues get and how much the bands get.

Depends on the agreement. For big stuff, ticket sales aren't particularly relevant for the band. They get their performance fee from the promoters and that's it. Usually some of it up front, and the rest after the show is done. Maybe the size of that second part is partially based on sales? I don't know. But that's why you hear bands comment so much on how merchandising is their main source of profit these days.

For small stuff the promoters, venues and bands are a bit more "in it together" financially speaking.

This is pretty freaking awesome for Clutch. Almost 1,700 for just a regular headlining Clutch show? Pretty amazing. As often as they tour NA I just wouldn't ever think they'd pull in these types of #s but I thought they pull in #s close to this overseas. I'm sure Ravenheart could answer that for me.

Recent years have been weird as far as Clutch is concerned. I mean, I saw them on the tour for Strange Cousins about three times. Twice at festivals, where their crowds were stupidly small, and once headlining in Copenhagen, Denmark, where the place was sold out, but only held about 600 people.

They go away to record Earth Rocker, amidst their usual bits of US touring, and by the time they come back, during which time nothing's happened Clutch-wise in Europe and the new album isn't even out yet, they sell out a 1000 capacity venue in London, with several other UK dates on the schedule, where last time they were here they couldn't sell 800 when only playing one other show nationwide.

As soon as that tour is over they book another one, this time the London show is a 2,000 capacity theatre, and sell that out too.

They're coming back in April/May, playing 1500-2000 capacity places all over the UK and headlining a festival with Neurosis. Honestly, I can't say I get it. It's not like they've even gotten better over the last few years.

Wow, that Megadeth number is terrible. I know it's not a big market but Clutch sold just 200 tickets less at the same venue 4 days earlier.

It didn't seem very full at all. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised that over half of the tickets sold.
