Eminem - Berzerk

Eminem has released the greatest pop rap song since the Beastie Boys. Hip-hop in 2013 tried way too hard to be obtuse and unapproachable - do these guys think this gives them artistic merit and credibility? Eminem embraces the and makes a banger with a simple drum beat and samples on samples on samples. It's catchy and fun, but Eminem's lyrics are as convoluted and brilliant as ever. Of all the popular rappers in the US, there might not be any as technically gifted as Eminem. "Berzerk" sounds like it was transplanted from the golden age of hip-hop - fans of Run DMC would be proud. I'm really glad Eminem decided to loosen up a bit and have some fun!

I really really really like Berzerk, Rap God and Monster. Which is a lot more than I can say for his singles from the last 11 years

Overall not a good album but there's a few tracks I like. First album I haven't hated since Eminem Show. Not earth shattering but it finally feels like he's heading back in the right direction.

Gotta say I'm not feeling the list this time except for Royals. I think that Drake song is really boring and have no idea what other people see in it. Also there was no Tegan and Sara, Haim, Chvrches, or Sky Ferreira?

I really liked that Chvrches song, but I only went with songs I heard here on the pop radio stations. I heard the Tegan and Sara song too and I liked it, but not enough to get it here. I do not know those other two bands.

Glad someone else dug Applause. I think the best stuff in it is how all the beats kinda cover all the generations and evolution of Pop music. It's subtle but when looking at it lyrically it makes a lot of sense.

Berzerk is a disaster imo. The sampling is so sloppy and obnoxious and it's just one of the many contrived attempts that Eminem makes to recapture his old sound on Marshall Mathers LP 2.

Considering Recovery was such a good album, MMLP2 was a huge letdown. Luckily I told myself NOT to compare it to MMLP, although he doesn't exactly help with the constant references he makes to the album.

Man, when did Paramore get so poppy?

As far as I'm concerned.

Good: Lady Gaga, Lorde, Passenger, Paramore

Meh: JT, Bruno Mars, Daft Punk

No thanks: Macklemore

Couldn't make it through the song: Drake, Eminem
