Were you looking at a picture of Katy Perry while rubbing it the wrong way?

My favorite thing about pop music this year was Beyonce making everyone else instantly irrelevant with one fell swoop. I haven't even heard the album yet, I just have to respect what a baller move that was.

This. I remember hearing Pon De Replay back in 2005 thinking it was Beyonce. When I found out it wasn't, I thought "someone's gonna get sued."

Thank God in this song, half of it is by someone who can sing better than Rihanna, because it's a welcome relief. It's just overall a boring song and makes me wish she would just work exclusively with Jay-Z again and make some real pop songs again.[/center]
Her music is fun, but at the end of the day, Rihanna is nothing. Nothing but a label puppet for Def Jam.

Her latest album is nothing but a bunch of reject tracks from previous albums that her label put together in order to put out a new album in 2011. She sounds tired and worn out, like she no longer gives a shit about putting effort into her music.

And I really don't know why I'm talking about this…

As far as I'm concerned, Wrecking Ball is pretty much the best pop song that came out this year

TOP 10 POP SONGS OF 2013

10.

Macklemore - Same Love

I think it's kind of crazy that a song that is so blatantly in-your-face about wanting equal rights for homosexuals and marriage and how hypocritical some Christians are and slamming the hip-hop community for its ingrained homophobia could rise to the top of the charts. Like I know it's super lame and cheesy but certain music has gotten me interested in political movements and social issues and stuff like that, so I'm all for a super popular song to get the younger generation thinking about stuff like this.

Aside from that, it has a killer hook, a great throwback, almost 60's vibe and great vocals from Mary Lambert. And it has great Macklemore rhymes that aren't overtly in your face like some of his other songs. Macklemore is probably 2013's new artist that had the hugest year. 2014 will be crazy for him.

Also he says "faggot" lololololol

Lady Gaga - Applause

I remember when this came out, there was a big discussion over whether Gaga or Katy Perry had the better single release since this was released so close to "Roar." And honestly - it shouldn't even be a question. Lady Gaga comes back and does what she does best - A self-indulgent, catchy, beat-laden dancefest that puts other pretenders to shame. She's as awesome and as weird as ever. As disappointing as most of the singles from Born This Way were, Applause was a huge relief that Gaga ditched the "drunken ballad" phase of her career and went back to simple catchy pop songs.

The video to this is fucking crazy as well, but isn't that the norm for Godga by now?
