Had The new Atlas Moth land in my inbox today

Didn't think they could top Ache (in my top 5 of 2011) but holy shit they did. This band just keeps getting better and way more remarkable by each release.
The lead guitars on this thing are mind blowing

So I'm kind of in agreement with all the dudes saying they're underwhelmed by new Agalloch. It's not bad by any means, but nothing about it felt very invigorating or exciting. It's good/meh. Finally got around to Lord Mantis and that shit was pretty sick.

The three tracks I've heard are great. Can't wait to hear the whole thing. Such a killer band!

I think it is Agalloch's weakest or one of their weakest thus far, but that being said Agalloch at their weakest still some how manages to take a fat shit, pardon the imagery, on many bands trying their best. But truth be told even though I ranked it number 5 a couple days ago, it is already slipping a bit, and Lantlos has moved up a couple (thanks for reminding me) and Jute Gyte is now AOTY. But that can change in a matter of hours.

New Opeth song leaked, a good fellow in a facebook Opeth group posted it. Hope the link works. Sounds like a continuation of Heritage, they found there sound and seeing where they can take it.

That did nothing for me.

I will still give the new album a chance, and sometimes my first impressions of singles are wildly different than my actual feelings after I've gotten a few listens in. But if they really are continuing on with the "Heritage" vibe then I will most likely not care for it. And they will probably be playing a lot of the new songs live, as well as probably a couple Heritage ones, which will diminish my desire to see them live again.

I was never really able to get into Heritage. I thought maybe it would grow on me over time but that was never the case. I just can't get into this new direction they are going in, it doesn't grab me in the way their previous works have in the slightest.
