I am so not used to hearing Clean vocals with Killwhitneydead.

Now this is a shocker, because a) I thought I was the only Switchfoot fan here and b) I myself was really disappointed with the album. Say It Like You Mean It is the only song on the record that keeps the fuzzy distorted rock sound that the band is known for. I hope this was just an experimental album and they go back to the Nothing Is Sound/Oh! Gravity. type stuff.

I saw them last year though and it was a great performance (when is it ever not with Switchfoot?), but the set was way too short because of the movie thing at the beginning (no Stars or Meant To Live, tell me how that happens?).

I'm not really the biggest Switchfoot fan to begin with. My wife is though. I've only given it a couple spins and it grew on me the more I listened. The older records are definitely a lot better. The only reason it's on my list is that I haven't really heard a lot of new music yet this year.

We've never even seen them do a proper headline set. The last few times they've come to the area, we've been busy. I won tickets for a free acoustic performance back in March though. That's the only time we've seen them live. Only four songs, a little interview and a meet and greet/photo op. I wanted to go to their show that night but my wife is pregnant and wasn't feeling up to going to a long show. Maybe next time.

Exactly. And some of the clean vocals are actually really good, I think. But sometimes it's like they don't seem to fit with the song at all.

Also I'm not sure yet how I feel about all the straightforward thrash and metalcore riffs and simplified song structuring. KWD should be dynamic and chaotic. Maybe it'll grow on me, I don't hate it I just can't get past how unusual it is.

Also, I'm listening to the new killwhitneydead again and I can see clearly now... IT FUCKING RULES.

Still very different. But it rules.

Indeed it is. Although the production could've been better. The snare sound in particular bothers me at points.
