That's like calling any album Motorhead has recorded in the last 10 years amazing. How can an album that is simply repeating what they've done before be amazing? Genuine question.

The new one has more scope to be an amazing album because they at least tried some new things. It hasn't really come off, but they at least gave themselves that chance. With Electric Age they didn't at all. They just made a safe thrash record. There's nothing amazing about that.

It depends on who you are, honestly.

Some people to get into bands at different times and likes different aspects of a band more than others. I totally understand someone who would call a newer album from Motorhead amazing in the same way I can see people digging the Paul Bostoph era of Slayer better than Dave Lombardo, or likes 80s KISS more than 70s KISS.

It doesn't mean they are right, but I understand their reasoning.

Having a preference totally depends on who you are and your tastes. But to raise an album into some kind of higher class is only valid with the perspective of the other albums. So with the Motorhead and Electric Age examples, put into perspective, they are just safe, repetition albums. There's nothing special about repeating, by any standards. Enjoying them and thinking they're good versions of the formula is something else, and that's just personal preference.

At least '80s KISS is markedly different to '70s KISS. There really is a case for finding, say, Creatures of The Night to be the most amazing KISS album.

It's like all the people out there who think bands like Airbourne are amazing. They're not. They just rip off AC/DC. But if you like their songs and their live shows, that's fine, that's up to you. To call copying something else (whether that's another band or something the same band has done in the past) amazing is not a matter of taste, that's just an incorrect statement.

You can't call Ironbound a standard, by-the-numbers album when it was the first truly excellent record they had released in... 17 years? Sure, it was nothing more than a thrash record, but it was a damn fucking great thrash record. I don't expect you to agree though. I know you're just praying they release an album full of Horrorscopes and Skullkrushers.

New Fallujah is dope.

New Joyce Manor is chill as hell. Toned down straight up pop punk now.

New Real Friends is same old Real Friends.

New Origin is pure violence.

What the hell Darkest Hour, why you sell out ? Sound like Trivium now

See what I've heard of the new Darkest Hour I actually really like. I'm glad they're exploring new territory while simultaneously sticking to their roots.

As for Fallujah, I'm glad someone on here is actually talking about them. Those guys don't get nearly enough love around these parts. I still haven't heard The Flesh Prevails in its entirety (my fucking preorder still hasn't showed up and I refuse to listen to it until then), but from what I've heard so far it seems like AOTY material.

I did reviews of BOTH Darkest Hour and Fallujah.

There is something about Fallujah that is off-putting to me. I can't really put my finger on it. It seems like something I would like, but I just can't get into them. I'll keep trying though, maybe it will click eventually.
