ACDC - Powerage. The entire album is just one stack of memorable rock riffs after another. "Downpayment blues", "Gone Shooting", "Whats Next To The Moon" are good examples.

Definitely one of those albums that come to mind when I think of "favorite heavy rock riffs" -

This is why it's so hard to come up with a list for this thread topic. Just the mention of these two bands gets me thinking of all the great riffs they recorded. Between Sabbath and AC/DC, I could come up with a hundred riffs alone I think are great. Forget about even getting to any other bands right away.

Too many good riffs out there to list my favorites.

Cannibal Corpse - Pit of Zombies.

Too many, I was just listening to Gore Obsessed this morning on the way to college so it's on the brain.

Dude, I've listen to almost everything Metallica has done, I'm a huge fan, so it's not like I'm not familiar with anything off their first four albums.I can only write so many riffs down, trust me Battery, Blackened, Creeping Death, and whole crap load more from their first four albums are incredible riffs, it's just that Enter Sandman and Master Of Puppets were the first two that popped into my head.

To start I'll say anything off Slaughter or the Soul. Specifically Blinded by Fear and the title track. But the whole album is great riff after great riff.
Crap, totally forgot about Slaughter Of The Soul! Blinded By Fear is definitely one of the best metal riffs out there.

I think I have it down to one riff: the intro (first one or two minutes) to the Art of Dying by Gojira. Not my favorite band but a wicked riff.

Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal. Every riff in that song is gold.

As far as something classic, Sabbath's Children of the Grave has always been one of my favorites.
