Kylesa -- San Francisco, CA -- August 29th, 2013

A little late but here's the goods.

Another free Converse show, Slapguitarer and I made it in just as the local opener was finishing and ended up at the front of the stage.
Both bands had a few "technical difficulties" but the drummer from Torche had to reset his bass drum after every song, which was also messing up a bunch of the mics. Other than that they put on a great performance and I thought it was a little bit of a slap in the face that they were billed more as an opener than a co-headliner. They usually close with Tarpit Carnivore like clockwork but I was stoked to hear Harmonslaught again.

Torche, may be missing one song
Warship
In Return
Kicking
Reverse Inverted
In Pieces
Healer
Across The Shields
Snakes Are Charmed
Kiss Me Dudely
Rockit
Little Champion
Without A Sound
Charge of the Brown Recluse
Harmonslaught

Kylesa had a completely different vibe, I'm pretty sure the set is just about the same as when they came through in June and they're just not as intense as they used to be, most notably when Laura wasn't really screaming the vocals to Scapegoat. You can't beat the price though.

Kylesa
Nature's Predators
Said And Done
Tired Climb
Quicksand
Don't Look Back
To Forget
Bottom Line
Unspoken
Long Gone
Unknown Awareness
Scapegoat
Hollow Server
-
Running Red

I think I actually preferred this performance over the one in May. Last time they didn't really seem quite as enthusiastic, like they were kind of burnt out from the tour and just wanted to play their set then leave. This time they seemed to have more energy sounded better I thought. I didn't realize how much of the set was from Static Tensions.

Also, I need to listen to more Torche. They were great.

Torche are always great live, got to see them open for Boris back in 2008. As well as last year with Corrosion.
