1. 320k MP3s aren't sold through iTunes, Amazon or what have you. Those are usually 192-256k if I remember right. Basically the only ways you're gonna get 320k MP3s are illegal downloads or ripping the CD yourself.

2a. FLAC also isn't sold through most digital retailers. Again, gotta pirate or rip the CD.

2b. FLAC - Free Lossless Audio Codec. MP3 is an inherently lossy format. What is this "FLAC mp3" you speak of? I want no part of it!

2c. FLAC is more or less a zipped WAV file. Meaning that it is the same data as is on a CD. So yes, you shouldn't be able to tell the difference between a FLAC file and a CD going through the same signal path, because they're the same damn thing.

Now that the semantics are cleared up, the truth is yes, 90% of people can't tell the difference between a high-quality MP3 (192k+) and a lossless file, especially given how low-fi basically everyone's listening setups tend to be these days (small computer speakers, earbuds and an iPod etc). On good equipment in a quiet environment the difference is absolutely discernible though. There is nothing that sounds better than an all-analog engineered vinyl LP going through a great hi-fi stereo. Not even the highest quality digital tracks (the 192k/24bit stuff that's been released on Blu-Ray recently) can match that.

This is why bandcamp is the best digital retailer. The only time I pay for digital downloads is on bandcamp but even then I won't pay much more than 5 bucks.

Wouldn't know about that one, but I agree with the hate for the YouTube ones. Is it me, or are they getting more common?

Facebook's inability to work reliably. For such a big site, with so much money, it's pretty shit.

People who can't walk and talk at the same time, or who insist on always walking side-by-side even when they're taking up the entire width of the corridor/path/whatever.

People who get on those airport travellator things, and stop.

People who use lifts to go one floor.

They are getting more common.

On Spotify, which I use to discover new bands, you are listening for, say, 15 minutes and just before you wanna start teh next song, an ad for One Direction plays...

Another thing: people with a limited musical taste. I went from Ani Difranco to Revocation this morning...

It's fine if someone's taste is limited purely because they have tried and don't like other stuff. But there's no excuse for simply shutting yourself off from other music.
