Great show, as always with the Melvins. I got to the Grog in the middle of Honky's set. I grabbed a beer and looked at the merch. I grabbed a 7" (Venom tribute) and a home made poster from their buddy/merch guy Brian Walsby. He had so many charicature pictures there for $20 and $10. I grabbed a $10 one that is done in the style of Fat Albert only with the Melvins dudes.

Honky opened and were like Hellyeah, only funnier. Dale played (or plays) drums for them. Not sure if he was filling in or if this is his side band. I also noticed that he has lost a bunch of weight! It is JD Pinkus' (of Butthole Surfers fame) band. They were fun and a good way to start off the night. Coady came in during the last song and played with Dale.

Buzz came on the stage at 10:30 to the repetitive coughing from the beginning of Sweet Leaf. Starting off with Hag Me was perfect! Really epic and heavy. I noticed that Jared was not on bass and was curious if he was sick or just didn't come on tour for whatever reason. JD filled in and did a good job. The whole set was fun with Coady and Dale finished the night killing the drums.

Mastodon was playing with Machine Head at the House of Blues last night too, but this was the Melvins 30th anniversary tour and it was at my favorite venue.

Great night overall and a nice, balanced setlist. Catch the tour if you can!
