Lillian Axe -- West Springfield, VA -- June 28th, 2013

Full review

Lillian Axe came to play Empire. About 40-50 people showed up. I was only cursorily familiar with their songs, so it was a 'blind bye' for me.

They sounded great to start... then the vocalist turned up the echo on his vox for some unknown reason and brought down each song :/ During parts where he was NOT singing (ex: solos), they were pretty great.

Their show was a bit different from other recent hair band shows because they had one. They had 3 monitors set up that played their videos or footage related to the song at hand. That was cool.

Overall a decent show. Not great, definitely not horrible. I think if the vocals had been un altered I would have enjoyed it a bit more.

I've always liked these guys. Glad to see they can still bring it live (instrumentally, anyway). I wanted to see them last year when they toured with Faster Pussycat & Jack Russell but that tour, not surprisingly, didn't come here because of the Jack Russell/Great White/Station Club tragedy a decade ago.

I love this band. I've loved this band since 1988. I can't stand the new singer, though. If they came anywhere near where I live, I'd definitely go and support them, but I wish they'd try and get Derrick LeFevre back...or much better yet, Ron Taylor.
