Tuska Open Air Day 1 -- Helsinki, Finland -- June 28th, 2013

- Started off the day with TesseracT - filling in for Dillinger Escape Plan - who I hadn't listened to before. Not bad; the lack of harsh vocals definitely surprised me.
- Abhorrence were pretty good. Had a decent-sized crowd. I'm surprised that they didn't have Amorphis' singer join them onstage.
- Wintersun impressed me a good amount, but their sound mixing made their bass drum louder than everything else (other than the vocals) so I was straining to hear the guitars quite often.
- Although I didn't actually go over to the Inferno stage to see him, Ihsahn sounded pretty fucking good; it might have just been me, but it sounded like he was playing material that was heavier than what I heard at Graspop last year.
- Bolt Thrower fuckin' ruled. Best performance of 2013 thus far. Ended up buying all of their merch.
- King Diamond was... interesting. It was good to see him alive and well, and his vocals were spot-on, but I wasn't invested enough in the performance to really get into it. I did greatly enjoy hearing Mercyful Fate live, though.
