M3 Fest Day 1 -- Columbia, MD -- May 3rd, 2013

Day 1 of the um typically Hair band festival in MD.
Full review

Today was Danger Danger, KIX, and the oddly heavy choice of W.A.S.P.

Danger Danger were good...better than I thought they would be

Kix was great as usual. A really hard act to follow!

W.A.S.P. I was most interested in, as I had not seen them before. They started out pretty good, got stronger (particularly around LOVE machine). HOWEVER.... IMO Blackie blew it and the 30 minute Crimson Idol set was...underwhelming. This mighta been good for deeper WASP fans, but I found myself getting ...bored. To top that off, throw in a drum solo, a random video w/ Spinal Tap, and another sobering video of like...dead soldiers, and you have the least feel good set of the night now. Very similar to how Queernsryche had a rollercoaster set (not in a good way) last year at M3 day 2.

Overall, fun, but W.A.S.P. could have been so much better.

Coming soon...Day 2 of 2013.

Some kid fellows on Setlist.fm adjusted my initial setlists for Dangerx2 and W.A.S.P.

  • Drum Solo
  • Blow My Fuse

  • Yeah, Yeah, Yeah

  • L.O.V.E. Machine
  • Wild Child

No "Bang Bang" for Danger Danger? Dang, I have no clue why that got thrown out.I'm guessing the (Unknown) one is probably something like "Shot O' Love", "Hearts On The Highway", or "Crazy Nites".A surprising opener choice for Kix, and good to see that "Red Hot (Black And Blue)" is getting good rotation again. As for W.A.S.P., a show without Chainsaw Charlie in its entirety is not a show I would want to see

WASP has so many great songs and could have sold a bunch of back catalog cd's to that crowd...

All I heard is how bad they sucked and after seeing that setlist I see why people would say that now. Fucking clueless...

Kis should have squeezed For Shame in there in place of a worthless drum solo. I never liked that song until I heard it live. Great crowd pleaser.

Yea, W.A.S.P should honestly scrap the Idol medley and The Idol song for Chainsaw Charlie, The Headless Children, and another newer song like My Wicked Heart or Let It Roar.

Kix should have and should do so in further shows, replace the drum solo with For Shame. It's an incredible song and will also represent Cool Kids.
